Thailand has secured the eighth position globally and first place in Southeast Asia in the 2026 Health Care Index by Numbeo. The ranking reflects the country’s high-quality medical services, efficient management, and broad accessibility, with an overall score of 77.5 points.

The government credits this achievement to the effectiveness of the Universal Coverage Scheme, commonly known as the 30-baht scheme. This initiative ensures that citizens receive comprehensive medical treatment at affordable costs, ranging from basic care to chronic disease management.

This international recognition strengthens Thailand’s standing as a leading global destination for medical tourism. The result demonstrates that high-performance healthcare systems can be achieved through strategic service delivery and equal access rather than relying solely on high expenditure.
