ISLAMABAD : FIA Islamabad Zone has offloaded two Pakistani youth from flight to Azerbaijan on charges of illegal immigration.

According to the details shared and claimed by FIA;

Two passengers traveling on visit visas to Azerbaijan were referred for secondary profiling by the counter officer. During the inquiry, it was revealed that the two passengers were traveling together and that one of them was in contact with an agent to be sent to Europe (Italy) illegally—a deal arranged for the sum of 3.5 million rupees. Their travel was part of an organized scheme for illegal immigration.

Based on preliminary facts and available evidence, both passengers were offloaded and taken into custody on suspicion of human trafficking. They were subsequently handed over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) Islamabad for further investigation and legal proceedings; an investigation into all aspects of the incident and the role of facilitators is currently underway.

Pakistani LEAs at airports are holding thousands of travelers even with valid documents and visa only on suspicion. Lahore highcourt has directed the authorities not to stop the travelers with valid visas but in many cases this direction is not obeyed.

Pakistan earns more than $42 Billion annually in shape of remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis and Kashmiris. Pakistan’s own exports are not more than $20 Billion.

The strict directions from Ministry of Interior to check the travelers has opened a gateway to corrupt practices at the airports.
