Islamabad-28 Jan 2019;Uzbekistan-Pakistan Business Council (UPBC) facilitated the visit of delegation from Embassy of Republic of Uzbekistan, Islamabad to Faisalabad under the leadership of His Excellency Furqat A. Sidikov – Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The aim of this visit was to explore the trade and investment opportunities and potential between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. The visit will also enhance the bilateral relations between both the brotherly states.
Several meetings and interactive sessions where arranged for the visiting dignitaries including the visit to National Textile University (NTU) of Pakistan, where the delegation was well received by the Rector and senior management of the University. During the meeting, it was decided that NTU and Tashkent Textile Institute will collaborate and sign a MoU for further cooperation in the field of textile including joint research, exchange programs and technology. Under this agreement, both the countries will be able to address the issues of standardization and certification of textile products as well as the establishment joint laboratories for research and developmentwill be ensured.
The delegation also visited the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce where the discussion focused on cooperation in trade, investment and economy and the delegation was briefed about the trade and investment potential of Pakistan. The Uzbekistan premier expressed his desire to witness a rapid increase in the bilateral economic cooperation of Uzbekistan and gave a comprehensive presentation about the structure and trade potential of the country. The documentary “I am Uzbekistan” was also screened at the occasion.
An interactive session was held where the participants expressed their keen interest for bilateraleconomic cooperation in textile, pharmaceuticals and other sectors.
A visit was arranged to the textile mills/factories in Faisalabad where the senior officials expressed keen interest in exporting textile yarns from Uzbekistan due to its fine quality.
During the latter part of the day, a meeting was arranged with the
honorable owners of “Crescent Group” (Crestex). The discussion focused on trade development, joint manufacturing and bilateral business visits. The Pakistani counterparts expressed profound interest for partnership under a formal agreement/MoU.
