Uzbekistan and Punjab: A New Level of Cooperation! “Made in Uzbekistan” Exhibition in Lahore Attracts Huge Response from Pakistani Business Community

    LAHORE / Pakistan : Special Report – A significant milestone in the history of Uzbekistan-Pakistan trade and economic relations was “Made in Uzbekistan” exhibition in Lahore, the capital of Punjab, the largest province. The exhibition can be seen as a new era of economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

    On February 11, the “Made in Uzbekistan” industrial exhibition officially opened in Lahore. This strategic initiative, organized with the active support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and create new business opportunities.
    Leading Uzbek manufacturers are showcasing their products across various industries, including:

    1-Textile and leather industry
    2-Electronics and household appliances
    3-Agriculture and agro-industry
    4-Pharmaceuticals and chemical products
    5-Construction materials and furniture industry

    The exhibition attracted thousands of business representatives and officials, including:
    Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan Khurram Teshaboyev
    Executive Director of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Faiz Ahmad
    Ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan and over 250 representatives from the business community and media.

    Ambassador Alisher Takhtaev, while opening the exhibition, shared , “By the end of 2024, bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Pakistan exceeded $404 million and this figure continues to grow rapidly.”

    “Under the directives of our Leaders, we are actively working towards achieving the $1 billion goal in the coming years. Today’s exhibition is an important step in this direction. It will serve as a key platform for expanding cooperation in the textile, pharmaceutical, agricultural, and other industries, H.E Takhtaev noted.

    The exhibition  garnered significant attention from the business community:

    A- 150 Uz entrepreneurs held meetings with more than 800 Pakistani companies
    B- Over 15,000 visitors attended on the first day alone
    C- Trade agreements worth $500 million are expected to be signed!

    “Made in Uzbekistan” is not just an exhibition but a powerful catalyst for economic partnership between the two nations. The exhibition continued until February 13. It was a great success, serving as a bridge between business communities of both countries and opening up new opportunities for cooperation.

    An important step in developing regional partnership! In Lahore, the Ambassador had a productive meeting with Governor of Punjab, Sardar Salim Haider Khan. The sides discussed expanding trade, industrial, and cultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan’s largest province.

    Uzbekistan and Punjab are ready to deepen industrial cooperation, establish joint production, and develop new trade directions.

    Punjab is the heart of Pakistan, with deep historical and cultural ties to Uzbekistan. Both sides expressed commitment to leveraging the full potential of public diplomacy to strengthen brotherly relations.

    A business delegation led by the Governor of Punjab is preparing to visit Uzbekistan soon to implement new joint projects.
