Uzbekistan Sends Train Loaded with Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan

Tashkent: A train, consisting of 63 carriages, has left Termez for Afghanistan on 23 Dec 2021.One thousand tons of flour, 60 tons of sugar, 200 tons of rice, 26,500 jars of jam, 26,200 pieces of canned vegetables, 30 tons of cookies, clothes and other products will be delivered to Mazar-i-Sharif. 40 carriages are loaded with coal.

A solemn ceremony of handing over humanitarian aid of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the fraternal people of Afghanistan took place in the Afghan city of Mazar-I-Sharif.

This humanitarian aid, consisting of flour, rice, sugar, food, basic necessities, clothing, textiles and coal with a total weight of more than 4 thousand tons, has become another gesture of goodwill of the Uzbek people to Afghanistan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Interim Government of Afghanistan Sher Abbas Stanikzai, on behalf of the entire Afghan people, expressed deep gratitude to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his constant attention, support, and solidarity in these difficult times for the country.

It was particularly noted that among the first to respond to the call to help the people of Afghanistan was the Head of Uzbekistan, whose policy is considered by the multinational people of the country as a true manifestation of humanism, brotherhood and good neighborliness.

Sher Abbas Stanikzai stressed that the Afghan people have always felt the brotherly attitude of the Head of Uzbekistan, so the new authorities of the country will do everything possible to further strengthen good-neighborly relations, and will never allow any threats from their territory to neighboring countries, including Uzbekistan.

The Governor of Balkh Province Qudratullah Abu-Hamza noted the timeliness of this humanitarian assistance, its special significance for the Afghan people in winter. This, according to him, is another proof of the deep historical and spiritual ties between the two fraternal and peoples.

The representatives of the Afghan public who spoke at the ceremony, including well-known figures of ethnic Uzbeks, once again expressed sincere gratitude to the Head of Uzbekistan for unprecedented assistance, who even in the most difficult times for them never forgot about their needs and aspirations, always remained a true friend of the Afghan people.

According to them, this assistance will actually contribute to the prevention of mass famine in the country, the most severe humanitarian and food crisis.
During the event, chefs from Uzbekistan prepared a charitable Uzbek pilaf, which was treated to all those present, as well as a large number of members of the Afghan public.
