Republic of Uzbekistan achieved another milestone in the journey of self reliance in industrial production that will be catered by the raw material provided at local level. This is leap forward to bring an industrial revolution in the country in next few years.GTL plant in Kashkadarya region is almost completed and it will start working soon. President Shavkat’s visit to the plant and briefing on December 25 indicates that the engineers have paved the way to the industrial growth of the country. The complex will bring investments in Uzbekistan.
It is a complex of giant plant and a chemical cluster that marks a new stage in the development of domestic industry. Its construction was under the constant attention of the head of our state, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The President earlier visited the site to see the work in 2017 and 2018. The construction did not stop even in the conditions of the corona pandemic.
Uzbekistan has become fifth country in the world to construct such complex after Qatar, Nigeria, South Africa and Malaysia. The government has spent 3.042 Billion US Dollars on the complex that is situated at the area of 135 hectares. 13 thousand engineers and workers were involved in the construction at the same time.
The plant has more than 10 thousand pieces of equipment manufactured by about 130 leading enterprises in 24 countries, including Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the USA, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Russia and China. 140 international licenses and patents for the use of technological solutions, equipment and processes have been obtained. Most of them have no analogues in the world.
The plant is capable of processing 3.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year and producing 307 thousand tons of jet fuel, 724 thousand tons of diesel fuel, 437 thousand tons of naphtha, 53 thousand tons of liquefied gas. It is possible to work in five different modes: the plant is able to increase the volume of production of the products for which more orders have been received.
The President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev has a vision about the future requirements of his country and he better knows how to cater them without relying upon the others. That is why he said:
“We have big plans in this industry. They need guaranteed raw materials. We are trying to recycle at home so that the people benefit. In the future, the demand for the products produced here will only grow. The world is moving to a “green” economy. That is why we must use new geophysical equipment and deepen geological research.”
The work of the giant plant requires a lot of energy. In this regard, the company is self-sufficient. 650 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year will be generated from steam generated by the operation of the plant. Thanks to this, the plant provides electricity to itself, and can also supply electricity to the Shurtan gas chemical complex and another new enterprise. The saved electricity will be used to supply homes and businesses.
The Head of State visited the control room of the plant, from where the management and monitoring of production and its safety are conducted. The center employs young people who have been trained by the American corporation Honeywell.
The President instructed the responsible persons to expand geological exploration and strengthen the raw material base of local plants.
He encouraged the staff :
“I am very glad to see that you, having mastered modern knowledge, having studied foreign languages, having gained experience abroad, are working at such an enterprise.”
The President shared his mind with the workers. He said your knowledge is your wealth. I talked to an operator guy from Karakalpakstan, he says that he receives a salary of 15 million soums. I want there to be even more such young people. And to do this, I ask you to encourage your peers to follow you, to do science, to become professionals.
Here it is relevant to note that Uzbekistan has started the creation of 5 chemical technology clusters in Tashkent, Navoi, Fergana, Bukhara regions and Ustyurt. The young professionals will be posted there. It means Uzbekistan needs more qualified youth. That is why the President is encouraging the youth to get prepared for the future requirements of the industry.
The President also inspected the modern laboratory of the complex and the plant for processing industrial water. He passed instructions for the development of satellite industries around the plant, the construction of housing, sports and cultural facilities for the plant’s employees.
