Warm Welcome to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Brotherly Uzbekistan in Pakistan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will arrive in Pakistan on Thursday 03 March on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Uzbek president will be accompanied by a high-level delegation that will include the foreign minister, other cabinet members, senior government officials, businessmen and members of the media.Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Mr. Furqat Sidiq is already in Pakistan to coordinate with Pakistani officials about the high level visit.

This will be Uzbek President Mirziyoyev’s first visit to Pakistan since taking office in 2016. The Uzbek president is visiting Pakistan at a time when 30 years have passed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to the Foreign Office, during the visit, the Pak-Uzbek leaders will review all aspects of bilateral relations, including cooperation in the fields of politics, trade, economy, relations, education, culture, security and defense.

They will discuss and sign a number of bilateral agreements / MOUs. Prime Minister Imran Khan will have a one-on-one meeting with the President of Uzbekistan, followed by a delegation-level discussion and a joint media stackout.

The Prime Minister will also host an official banquet in honor of the Uzbek President. A meeting will also be held between Uzbek President and President Arif Alvi. Promoting Educational and Cultural Cooperation, Trans-Afghan Railway project linking Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan will be discussed.

There will also be fruitful talks between the leading businessmen of the two countries.

Ahead of the Uzbek President’s visit, the 7th meeting of the Joint Ministerial Commission and the Second Joint Business Forum will be held between the two countries (today) on March 2, 2022 in Islamabad.

Pakistan has enhanced its ties with Central Asian countries under the “Vision Central Asia” framework. The vision includes the political, diplomatic, trade, investment, energy, communications, security and defense sectors.
