64th birthday anniversary of the Emperor Naruhito of Japan Celebrated in Islamabad

Japan is the largest trade partner of Pakistan and there is another bonding factor between the two countries that is joint families as many marriages between spouses on both sides took place and are going very successful. Certainly both are Asian nations where family traditions are still alive. This interest factor was shared by the Ambassador himself at the reception in Islamabad to celebrate the 64th birthday anniversary of the Emperor Naruhito at the spacious halls of Serena hotels that were jam packed with a large number of guests from all circles of life.
Mr. & Mrs. Wada Mitsuhiro Ambassador of Japan and staff invited a large number of Pakistanis to celebrate the auspicious day of their country on 22 Feb 2024. They included government and military officials, ministers, businessmen, diplomats, civil society and media persons.
Caretaker Minister for National Heritage and Culture Jamal Shah was the chief guest while Information Minister Murtaza Solangi, Minister Education Madad Ali Sindhi and several other high officials also graced the event with their presence. A large number of Ambassadors and diplomats also attended the anniversary.
His Majesty the Emperor  Naruhito accessed to throne on May 1, 2019. His  birthday is on February 23. He is considered as the symbol of Japanese nation, unity of the people. and highly respected and loved by the people of Japan.

Cute and confident children of Japanese families enthralled the audience with their beautiful performance on drum beat. Japanese cultural traditional flower decorations Ikebana and Bonsai were another attraction for the guests.
Japanese Companies and their Pakistani partners held stalls to display their products and distribute their introductory material. Among them prominent were japan International Cooperation Agency JICA, JETRO, Toyota DAIHATSU, Idemitsu Lube Pakistan and others. The ambassador said the embassy, JICA, JETRO and Japanese companies had been present in Pakistan for long. This year marked 70 years since Japan started its official development assistance (ODA) to Pakistan.
Ambassador in his welcoming remarks, mentioned the longstanding friendly relations  and appreciated contributions of all the people who had helped further strengthen mutual ties in individual, business or official capacity. He said, “Imagine, what do the Japanese living in Pakistan do here? Among around 1,000 of us living in Pakistan, in fact quite many were married to Pakistanis or the children of such international couples. They formed families who loved both Japan and Pakistan, and many of such families had made good contributions to Pak-Japan relations.”
“This is a long time, and I would like to emphasise that we have never been alone – we’ve always had Pakistani friends and partners who supported us. I’m not talking only about big partner companies, but also about each of you, who kept telling us that you liked Japanese culture, anime, food, cars and electronics. It is thanks to you that we have been able to continue our work here in Pakistan.”

Ambassador noted with pleasure , ” Japanese companies and technology played a vital and indispensable role in promoting Pakistan’s export.”
He shared, “When I visited Sialkot a few months ago, I was surprised and pleased to know that the famous Pakistani businesses that produce soccer balls and surgical instruments are using high-quality Japan-made materials.Both soccer balls and surgical instruments are among the specialties of Pakistan and they are exported to countries around world.”
H.E Wada Mitsuhiro welcomed the elections in Pakistan and expressed best wishes for the future of Pakistan. He said, there was still political and economic turmoil in this country. “Nevertheless, I am convinced that the power and contribution of each individual will continue to be the basis of our strong ties.
Ambassador recalled his experience of watching the election activity. He said,”Two weeks ago, I had the honour to observe the elections at some polling stations, and was truly impressed by the passion of the people who worked there all day to make people’s voices heard. The people of Pakistan are the treasure of this country and also the Japan-Pakistan relationship.”
