Abdul Akbar is returning to Pakistan after serving for over 11 eventful years as Pakistan’s Press Attaché in the brotherly country. It was indeed a great honour to be working in a country that is so close to the heart of every Pakistani. He played very active role in enhancing bilateral cooperation and increasing knowledge about Pakistan among the Turkish brothers and sisters.
In the last decade, He witnessed history in the making in Turkey. During his posting, three different political parties (PPP, PML-N and PTI) governed Pakistan. However, He witnessed the same desire by our political leadership across the board to maintain the trajectory of our excellent political and people to people relations with Turkey.
He notes that ” I observed the same spirit of brotherhood from the Turkish side as well. Every party across the political divide in Turkey had the same feeling of brotherhood and friendship towards Pakistan.”
Under the guidance of four Ambassadors, Pakistan Embassy Ankara initiated various public diplomacy initiatives in which Abdul Akbar had the honour of being involved from planning to implementation.
Abdul Akbar was part of many initiatives like the annual Jinnah Young Writers Awards, Chughtai Art Awards, Pakistan Mango Festival, Pakistan Food Festival, among many such activities.
Pakistan’s presence on social media also grew and Pakistan Embassy Ankara has now one of the largest following among our Missions abroad.
On the completion of his assignment there, Abdul Akbar shares that all this was not possible without the guidance of our Ambassadors under whose leadership He worked, colleagues in the political, defence and commercial wings as well as professional support of the Director General of External Publicity in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
“Cooperation and support of our friends in the Turkish and Pakistani media, think-tanks and academia was also critical. I wish all the best to my colleague Ms. Mahroo Arshad who has replaced me and started her job. Thank you once again to all friends in the Turkish & Pakistani media, and friends and followers on social media.” Abdul Akbar concludes.
Editor and staff of “Pakistan in the World” express their best wishes for Abdul Akbar’s future endeavors.
