LAHORE :4 April 2024 – Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz received the Ambassador of Uzbekistan H.E. Aybek Arif Usmanov in her office today. The Ambassador congratulated CM Maryam Nawaz on assuming the office of the first female Chief Minister. The CM thanked the Ambassador and expressed her best wishes for the people of Uzbekistan.
The Ambassador lauded the vision of former PM Nawaz Sharif about relations with Central Asian Republics including Uzbekistan. He acknowledged that Nawaz Sharif promoted bilateral political and economic tie, promoted the trade with Central Asian region and opened new avenues of progress and prosperity for the people of both regions.
Ambassador appreciated the services of Mohtarma Kulsoom Nawaz Sharif for democracy in Pakistan.He noted that CM Maryam Nawaz is rendering appreciable services for the people of Punjab especially for the youth of the province.
CM stated that Uzbekistan is a neighborly, brotherly country and we want to further strengthen social and economic relations along with promoting of economic collaboration in all sectors.
Matters pertaining to education, health, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, mutual trade and enhancing economic cooperation in various sectors came under discussion . Promoting exports and imports of garments between the two countries was also agreed.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Former Senator Pervaiz Rasheed were also present in the meeting.
