Ambassador Romania Visits Darbar Mohra Sharif – Appreciates Role of Sufi Saints in Promotion of Interfaith Harmony

RAWALPINDI –  Ambassador of Romania H.E Eduard Robert PREDA has appreciated the traditions of interfaith harmony in Pakistan and the role the shrines of Sufi saints are playing in this regard. He observed this in his keynote address at a conference held at Darbar Mohra Sharif, Khyabaan, Rawalpindi on 05 April 2024 by the caretaker of the shrine Pir Mujtaba Farooq Gull in collaboration with the Chairman Pakistan Romania Friendship Association Mr. Zaildar Ahsan Shah and members.
Dr Babar Bajwa Senior Regional Director, Asia of CABI, Sahibzada Umar Farooq, Chairman International Sufi Council, Mr. Tayyeb Chatha President Sports Wing PPP Punjab, Ambassador R Ali Sarwar Naqvi were also among the guests.
Mr. PREDA shared the ideal state of interfaith harmony in his country. He said that Romania is a homeland of different sects of Christianity. We have Muslim population as well. All live in peace in our country.
Pir Mujtaba Farooq Gull shed light on the teachings of Islam about live and let live. He said Islam is religion of peace. Our religion emphasizes a lot on the rights of minorities and other religions living in a Muslim country.
Zaildar Ahsan Shah highlighted the role of Sufi saints in the promotion of welfare of mankind and bridging the gaps between the communities and ethnicity in the sub continent.
Sahibzada Umar Farooq conducted the conference and also addressed the guests on the topic.
Earlier , the Ambassador and other guests were warmly welcomed on their arrival at the shrine. Pir Mujtaba Farooq Gull took the Ambassador to different sections of the Darbar.
The guests offered fatiha at the Mazar of Pir sahib Mohra Sharif and later visited the madrassah where children of different ages were studying. The children get their education free of cost here.
Ambassador took keen interest in historical pictures of the Pir of Mohra and ancestors that were mainly about their activities in social welfare, meetings with international dignitaries before and after partition of India.
A stitching center is also run by the Darbar to train the women and help them stand on their own feet in their life. The Darbar administration is expanding the center with more sewing machines and related necessities be provided.
Charity is integral part of the welfare services the Darbar is rendering continuously since long. A complete package of daily use items of food and other commodities is distributed among the needy especially in the holy month of Ramzan.
The conference was concluded with Iftar and consensus on both sides to continue the exchange of visits and views to enhance people to people understanding between the two countries.
