BAKU / Azerbaijan : 20 Feb 2025 – Pakistan’s parliamentary delegation led by Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani met Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Heydar Aliyev in Baku.
Bilateral relations, the overall situation of the region, peace, development and other issues were discussed in the meeting. Chairman Senate thanked the leadership of Azerbaijan for warm welcome.
President cherished his memories of visits to Pakistan and expressed his best wishes for people and government of Pakistan.
Chairman Senate said, Asian Parliamentary Assembly was an opportunity to interact with the leaders of various regional parliaments. We are proud of our relations with Azerbaijan.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan are linked by religious, cultural and historical similarities. He emphasized on the exchange of delegations at the political and parliamentary level .
He said Pakistan wants to further expand these fraternal relations.
Both countries have signed an MoU to promote institutional support at the parliamentary level.
Gilani briefed the President about Friendship groups are already established in the parliaments of both countries. Exchange of delegations at the highest level will help in promoting public relations. SIFC is supporting FDI in Pakistan. There are vast investment opportunities in agriculture, energy, mining and other sectors.
Chairman Senate appreciated and congratulated the efforts of the government and parliamentary leadership of Azerbaijan for the successful holding of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
Ambassador Khazar Farhadov was also present in the meeting.
