ASTANA : 24 April 2025 – Kazakhstan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Ruslan Zhaksylykov, held talks with the Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Armed Forces, General Syed Asim Munir, who arrived in Astana on an official visit.
This marks the first meeting of such a high level in the past decade, underscoring the growing interest in strengthening military cooperation between the two countries.
The parties discussed key areas of bilateral interaction, including peacekeeping operations, military-technical cooperation, medical support, combat training, and the education of special operations forces.
Kazakhstan expressed its readiness to sign an international agreement on peacekeeping, which would represent a significant step toward deepening the partnership.
Colonel General Ruslan Zhaksylykov emphasized that Pakistan possesses considerable expertise in various military fields, and Kazakhstan is interested in developing knowledge and experience exchange.
In turn, General Syed Asim Munir expressed gratitude for the warm reception and confirmed that the Pakistani side is ready to cooperate in all discussed areas.
The visit concluded with a wreath-laying ceremony at the “Otan Qorgaushylar” (Defenders of the Fatherland) monument, as a tribute to the heroism of Kazakh soldiers.
