Foreign Ministers of Turkic States Express Concern over Situation in Middle East ! Condemn all Acts that Endanger Lives & Undermine Stability in the Region

    Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) from 6 countries have expressed common concern of the Member States over the ongoing armed conflicts and hostilities recently hiked up in their surrounding area, which cause human suffering, loss of life and large-scale humanitarian challenges, as well as their condemnation for all acts that endanger innocent lives and undermine stability in the region.

    Earlier ,on 04 March , Turkiye’s Ministry of National Defence said a ⁠ballistic missile fired from ⁠Iran towards Turkish airspace was destroyed ⁠by NATO air defence systems over ‌the eastern Mediterranean after ⁠passing over Syria and Iraq. On 05 March, At around midday on 5 March, drone attacks were carried out against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan allegedly from the territory of Iran that both were denied by Iran and called false flag operations of Israel to build misunderstanding between the countries to engage them in war.

    At the conclusion of the Informal Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held on 7 March 2026 in Istanbul, the Foreign Ministers of the OTS Member States adopted a Joint Statement on the Recent Developments in the Middle East.

    The meeting was hosted by H.E. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, and brought together H.E. Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan; H.E. Jeenbek Kulubayev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic; and H.E. Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Alibek Bakayev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as H.E. Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, and their respective delegations.

    The Ministers shared commitment of the Member States to further strengthen political dialogue, deepen cooperation, and enhance coordination on issues of common interest, and reaffirmed their dedication to advancing the goals of Turkic cooperation, regional stability, and sustainable development, in line with the strategic vision and priorities of the Organization of Turkic States.

    Prior to the Informal CFM Meeting, the delegations held a series of bilateral meetings, providing an opportunity for consultations on issues of mutual interest and further coordination within the framework of the Organization.

    The meeting commenced with welcoming remarks by H.E. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, as the host and opening remarks by H.E. Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the Organization of Turkic States.

    Both Ministers underlined the importance of maintaining close coordination among the Member States and advancing the priorities of the Organization.

    The Ministers held extensive consultations on the regional and global developments, particularly the ongoing armed conflicts and hostilities recently hiked up in their surrounding area, which cause human suffering, loss of life and large-scale humanitarian challenges.

    They expressed their profound concern over the recent escalation of violence and its devastating consequences in the Middle East. They condemned all acts that endanger innocent lives and undermine stability in the region.

    The Ministers also exchanged views on the the current state of cooperation within the OTS framework, focused on further strengthening political dialogue, enhancing institutional cooperation, and advancing joint initiatives aimed at deepening integration within the Turkic World.

    The Ministers signed the Regulation on Cooperation with External Parties in the OTS+ Format, an initiative aimed at promoting dialogue, cooperation and partnership in the regional and international arena and increasing the influence of the OTS in multilateral diplomacy.

    At the conclusion of the meeting, the Foreign Ministers adopted a Joint Statement on the Recent Developments in the Middle East.

    The participants attended an iftar dinner hosted by H.E. Hakan Fidan following the meeting, which provided an opportunity for further exchanges among the delegations.

    The Informal Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers once again reaffirmed the strong spirit of solidarity, dialogue, and cooperation among the Turkic States, and contributed to enhanced coordination in addressing regional and international developments.

    On the margins of the Informal Meeting  the Foreign Ministers  and the Secretary General of the OTS were received by the President of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

    During the audience, the participants exchanged views on the current state of cooperation within the framework of the OTS, as well as on regional and international developments of common interest.

    President Erdoğan underlined the importance Türkiye attaches to the strengthening of solidarity and cooperation among the Turkic States, and reiterated continued support for advancing the shared objectives of the Organization.

    The Foreign Ministers and the Secretary General expressed their appreciation for Türkiye’s active role and contributions to the development of Turkic cooperation, and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening coordination and partnership within the OTS framework.
