Dushanbe / Tajikistan : On May 25, 2026, on the eve of the 4th High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” (2018–2028), the Asia-Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference officially commenced.
Bringing together high-level representatives from governments, UN entities, international and regional organizations, financial institutions, and the private sector, the Meeting focuses on accelerating progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6).
At the core of the programme are six interactive dialogues: Water for People, Water for Prosperity, Water for Planet, Water for Cooperation, Water in Multilateral Processes, and Investments for Water — addressing key challenges from water access and climate change to governance and financing.
Through high-level sessions, expert discussions, and knowledge exchange, participants are shaping regional solutions and strengthening partnerships across Asia and the Pacific.
The Meeting will deliver a comprehensive set of insights and recommendations as the region’s official contribution to the 2026 United Nations Water Conference.
