Chairman Senate of Pakistan on Diplomatic Visit to Russia – Delegation Level Talks with Speaker of Federation Council

Islamabad, 5 June 2023 – The Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, along with a delegation of Senators, has commenced a four-day visit to Russia at the invitation of the esteemed Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Mativenko.
The Chairman Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, and his accompanying delegation arrived at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport, where they were warmly received at the VIP lounge.
The distinguished delegation was greeted by Chizhov Vladimir Alekseevich, the head of the group on cooperation between the Federation Council and the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, representing the Russian side. Additionally, Shafqat Ali Khan, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Russian Federation, was present to welcome the delegation on behalf of Pakistan.
During this visit, Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani aims to strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and Russia, foster political cooperation, and explore opportunities for enhanced collaboration in various fields of mutual interest.
On 6th June Chairman Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani held delegation level talks with Speaker of the Russian Federation Council I.V Matvienko. Both sides emphasized the importance of parliamentary exchanges to further enhance bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia.
Chairman Senate reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Russia in all areas of mutually beneficial cooperation especially in the fields of economy, trade, finance and energy and education.
Chairman Senate briefed the Russian side on regional security situation and highlighted the Kashmir dispute and called for its resolution as per the relevant UNSC resolutions.
The two sides agreed to continue cooperation on regional and international issues and resolved to work together for a stable and peaceful Afghanistan.
Chairman Senate extended an invitation to Speaker Matvienko to visit Pakistan which was happily accepted.
Chairman Senate is on a four day visit to Russia on the invitation of Speaker of the Russian Federation Council. The visit constitutes celebrations to commemorate the 75th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Russia.
