Consensus on Grabbing the Gov – Differences on Respecting Military-How Long this Marriage of Convenience Can Work? Tazeen Akhtar

Gujrat rally was surely successful and the credit does not go to Punjab Government only but the local organizers of PTI also worked very hard to give their leader a befitting welcome. We would definitely mention that a large number of workers participated from our home town Jalal Pur Jattan. They were gathered and mobilized by two young brothers Mir Babar Zaheer and Mir Aamir Zaheer whom we have seen working for Imran selflessly for the last many years.

But unfortunately, our city has still to do something else to be noted as an important station. Thousands of workers attended Imran’s rally from our Jalal Pur Jattan but no local leader of PTI could be seen on or either around the stage even. Neither anyone was invited to say a few words from the stage. As big vote bank, Jalal Pur Jattan should raise its own leadership in all political parites.

Pervez Elahi is CM with the full support of PTI but as a matter of fact, he was nominated for the CM slot first by PDM unanimously. Pervez Elahi can forget that but we don’t think he will ever forget what Imran used to call him in public rallies only a few years ago. Maybe PTI workers do not remember but the workers and especially the leaders of PMLQ remember it.

The majority of our political workers have very short memory but no problem, we make them remember the events of only two weeks past. When Chief of Staff of Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf, Shahbaz Gill instigated the lower ranks of the Pakistan Army to disobey the seniors. To kick everyone can be your hobby or habit but sometimes it can bring the damage you can not bear. Shahbaz Gill in his habit to kick everyone finally kicked the bomb. When PTI leaders and workers were supporting Shahbaz Gill’s highly objectionable remarks on ARY TV, we noted that bring only one sentence in favor of Shahbaz Gill from your own CM Punjab Chaudhary Pervez Elahi.

It was only a few hours after we noted that Pervez Elahi condemned their remarks of Gill and suggested him seek an apology for his words.

here it is worth mentioning that Gill would never make these remarks without the consent or direction of Imran Khan. This means Pervez Elahi and Imran Khan have totally different rather opposite mindsets about military leadership. If other contradictions can not break this political contract even then the only difference in our military is enough to part the ways

we can see that Imran Khan does not challenge military leadership when Pervez Elahi is around on stage. We can conclude that Pervez Elahi has conveyed to Imran that Military leadership would never be criticized when a joint rally would be held.

When General Shujaa Paasha was DG ISI and General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani was Army Chief, PTI was lifting important members of PMLQ. Pervez Elahi and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain complained to Army Chief against Imran Khan. General Kiyani replied I arrange your meeting with General Paasha. Both Chaudhries held a meeting with DG ISI and informed him about their reservations. General Paasha denied any involvement in breaking the people of PMLQ for PTI. But in a few minutes was exposed by himself. Chaudhries were chronic politicians after all and General Paash was no more than yes sir no sir. Chaudhries in the same meeting discussed the political scenario of the country and started dwelling on PTI rising, raising the question of what is manifesto of Imran Khan. This way they grabbed the general because the General could not help offering them ” Should I arrange your meeting with Imran”?

Last but not the least, Pervez Elahi is not Usman Buzdar and this state is not acceptable for Imran Khan. When Pervez Elahi was about to select his cabinet, Imran Khan tried to dictate as he was doing with Usman Buzdar but Pervez Elahi did not let him do the same. Similarly, Imran Khan is not in a position now to call CM Punjab and direct him to change the Inspector General and Chief Secretary every three-four months as he was habitual when Usman Buzdar was CM.

Contradictions are present and persist on both sides. This is nothing more than a marriage of convenience. We have just to see how long it lasts. Imran Khan is not comfortable with Pervez Elahi and Pervez Elahi is uncomfortable with the popularity of PTI in Gujrat that can soon engulf PMLQ completely

You can hold big rallies, but this is not the news, important is how long two opposites can present themselves as allies. You have unanimity on holding the government but you have differences on respecting the military – how long can you go together? no rocket science is required to understand this.
