Display of Uzbek Clothes & Outfits in Pakistan – First Lady Appreciates Promotion of Culture through Fashion

First lady Mrs Samina Arif Alvi has said that Pakistan and Uzbekistan have common history, culture and values. We enjoy very strong relations in cultural sector. We can promote our cultures through fashion that has universal appeal. Culture and Fashion are breaking barriers and bridging gaps among the nations.

She was addressing to participants of the Fashion Show of Uzbek and Pakistani traditional/modern clothes and outfits organized by Embassy of Uzbekistan  in collaboration with Iqra University at Serena Hotels Islamabad   on 28th of February 2020. It was second show since the inception of Pak Uzbek Diplomatic relations arranged by Mr. & Mrs Furqatbek Akhmed Sidiq, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan. CEO Serena Mr Aziz Boolani was also present at the occasion.

The first lady appreciated the efforts of Ms Gull Chehra , the spouse of Ambassador of Uzbekistan for hosting such a magnificent event to enhance knowledge about the outfits of her country.

She said that that in globalized world the fashion is important tool to increase people to people contacts. She said that Pakistan is multi cultured country. We have diversity of cultures. Moghals from Uzbekistan ruled sub continent for centuries. They introduced the culture, cuisine , art and craft of Central Asia to this region. This is a unique common factor among Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

She congratulated the organizers of the fashion show for hosting the event.

Ambassador Furqatbek Akhmed Sidiq, in his welcoming address, expressed his gratitude to the first lady for gracing the event with her presence. Vice Chancellor of Iqra University Mohammad Islam shed light on the cultural activities of his university.

“Fashion Show” – a display of Uzbek national clothes and outfits in Pakistan, was held for the second time since the establishment of the relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. The main purpose of the event was to introduce and promote Uzbek national clothing and outfits, the rich culture and history of Uzbekistan, as well as demonstrate the unique tourist potential of the Republic.

Pakistani side was represented at a Highest level at the event. In particular, the First Lady of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mrs. Samina Alvi participated as the Chief Guest.
The Fashion Show was also attended by representatives of public and political circles of Pakistan, members of the government and Parliament and the Pakistani media and others.

The demonstration of Uzbek and Pakistani clothes and outfits was received with special enthusiasm and admiration by representatives of the Pakistani public. The Uzbek collection embodied a variety of traditional materials, national elements and consisted of national dresses, satin capes, adras, evening dresses, wonderful head ornaments, etc.
