DPR Korea Embassy Celebrates 113th birth anniversary of the Great Leader, Kim Il-Sung in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: 14 April 2025 – The Embassy of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Islamabad is fully active now reorganizing the work on bilateral relations and cooperation connecting the friends again for the sake of building a strong mutual partnership at all levels and in all sectors.

Mr. & Mrs. Choe Chang Man hosted a second consecutive reception at a local hotel on the occasion of 113th birth anniversary of the Great Leader, His Excellency Kim Il-Sung, 15 April 1912 – 8 July 1994) is founder of North Korea, which he led as its first supreme leader from its establishment in 1948 until his death in 1994.

Ambassador Choe, in his keynote address, shed light on the tireless struggle of Great Leader for his nation building. He briefed the guests about the foundational role Kim Il-Sung played in the establishment of the DPR Korea. H.E also shared the philosophy of the founding leader for self-reliance, as well as peaceful international cooperation.

It was a well attended event in which Parliamentarians, officials of Foreign Office, think tanks, politicians, media persons and representatives of civil society were present to express their solidarity with DPR Korea.

Among the parliamentarians , prominent were Senator Jan Muhammad Buladi of National Party Balochistan who is Chairman Standing Committee of States and Frontier Regions ,, MNA Pullain Baloch of National Party who is Chairman of Standing Committee of Information and Broadcasting, former Senator Dr. Abdul Qayoom Soomro.

Ambassador Khalid Mehmood, Chairman of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, and Mr. Muhammad Amjad Aziz Qazi, Director General for East Asia & Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated in the event.

Mr. Javed Ansari, President of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship & Solidarity Committee, Rana Sadaqat Ali President Pakistan International Taekwondo Federation were also present.

Ambassador shared his views on bilateral relations with Pakistan. He said , both countries enjoy cordial relations that can be transformed into meaningful cooperation. He expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to grow stronger in the years to come, with increased cooperation across multiple sectors.

He emphasized the shared values of sovereignty, independence, and mutual respect, stating that bilateral cooperation across various sectors will continue to grow stronger in the years ahead.

“The friendship between our nations is rooted in principles of mutual support and respect. We aim to enhance these relations through sustained dialogue and collaboration, Ambassador noted.

and Mr. Javed Ansari also addressed the gathering, reflecting on the historical and diplomatic significance of the DPRK-Pakistan relationship. They lauded the resilience, determination, and unity of the North Korean people.

Senator Abdul Qayyum Soomro and Senator Buledi, also addressed the gathering. They acknowledged the historical and diplomatic significance of DPRK-Pakistan relations and praised the people of North Korea for their resilience and national unity.

April 15 is celebrated as the most important public holiday in North Korea, marking the birthday of its late national founder. State media in Pyongyang published editorials on Tuesday reaffirming loyalty to the current leadership and commemorating the achievements of Great Leader Kim Il Sung.

The 113th anniversary of Kim Il Sung’s birth — also known as the Day of the Sun — is one of the most important national holidays in the DPRK and is observed worldwide by North Korean missions and supporters.
