Mr. Avazbek Atakhanov, the new Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan has arrived in Islamabad and soon will present credentials to President of Pakistan to officially assume the charge. He has earlier served as Deputy Foreign Minister of his country. Atakhanov has replaced Ulanbek Totuyaev.
President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov signed a Decree on 05 Sep 2024 according to which Avazbek Atakhanov was appointed Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The Embassy has been  in low profile since the attacks of angry mobs on Pakistani students in Bishkek on 17-18th May this year. The violence followed a brawl between local people and some students from Egypt but the mobs instigated by the local opposition party workers and others started attacks on the hostels of Pakistani students and workers. Nearly 1 thousand Pakistani students had to leave their studies and fly to homeland for their safety.
This scribe highlighted the plight of Pakistani students who were being targeted without any reason. Former Ambassador not only continuously contradicted the facts but showed anger and accused our media of spreading wrong information. He used derogatory words in his press conference for Pakistani press that was only raising the question “Why Pakistani students and workers are the target? What they have done?”
The former ambassador, in his last press conference in connection with the Bishkek riots invited pocket media only and avoided the journalists who were trying to convince him that negating everything and claiming calmness is not the solution to the problem. Unfortunately, the former ambassador, instead of being humble and be sorry for what happened in his country with our children, opted to contradictions and labeling Pakistani press only.
Only a few weeks before the Bishkek incidents, I held a forum on my own, at Gun and Country Club Islamabad on Pakistan Kyrgyzstan Cooperation in Education sector in which two high officials from Kyrgyz universities and two from Pakistan participated. The speakers shed light on the education opportunities for Pakistani students in Kyrgyzstan. This forum connected many persons of education sector of both countries with one another. This was important gesture from our side to promote Kyrgyz education in Pakistan but later Bishkek riots ruined our effort.

Kyrgyzstan is Gateway for Pakistani Businessmen to Eurasian Economic Union : Ambassador Ulanbek Totuiaev

Our working on bilateral relations is only for the development of cooperation through dissemination of knowledge about the two countries. We do it without any financial assistance from any Embassy. But it was highly regrettable that the former Ambassador cut us apart from the Embassy as if it is not the Embassy of a country but the property of one person.
Now when a new envoy is in town , we welcome him and do not want to recall the bitter memories, we look forward to normalization of relations and improvement of the state of affairs in Kyrgyzstan for Pakistani students and workers. We extend our all out cooperation to the new head of the mission. Our media has not been informed about Mr. Avazbek’s briefing though.
Pakistan in the World , web and print magazine has always worked upon building bridges and creating connections between the officials , businessmen and people of the other countries. Kyrgyz Embassy staff is expected to see the things in their true and actual perspective and quit the policy of inviting some and avoiding some. This discriminatory policy can not bring good results. New Ambassador is expected to take notice of this matter.
