Deputy Foreign Minister of Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Roman Vassilenko is highly optimistic about the positive outcome of the Parliamentary Elections held on 19 March after comprehensive constitutional reforms. He is looking forward to what he termed as ” Just & Fair Kazakhstan” for its citizens. This clearly shows how committed and sincere is the government for the betterment of the people.
He has said that our political reforms program and recent parliamentary elections are important events of modern history. The reforms have been imposed after the public approved them in a referendum previously. The term of the President was one only consisting upon 7 years. The establishment of constitutional court, safety of human rights and public liberties are the basic objectives of the reforms.
DFM expressed these views during an interaction with visiting foreign media in his office on 25 April 2023. The republic is transforming into more democratic, more just Kazakhstan for the people of the country. The foreign media included representatives from Pakistan, Uzbekistan,Turkiye, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Serbia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, France, Italy and other countries.
He expressed his opinion on the political developments in his country. He explained, ” Kazakhstan has standard normal system. President is powerful in Presidential form of government but the Parilament has also been empowered in many aspects. We have been trying to reshape the political system that is more closer to the public. Our country is very dynamic. We are observing many changes here. Earlier Kazakhstan had 3 political parties but now their number increased to 7. We are very well aware of the sentiments and expectations of our people and we are implementing the reforms in line with the aspirations of our public.”
Mr. Vassilenko shared, ” New political culture is growing after the reforms that will bring good governance especially among the other changes in the state. President Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev further explained the vision behind the reforms in his address to newly elected members of the Parliament. The reforms are imperitive for the robust market economy and for the expectations of the public. We have to diversify the economy improving agriculture, manufacturing, oil fields and transit trade.”
” Enhancing the income of our population, upgrading their life standard, giving them security and opportunities of development are the aims that are to be achieved by these reforms. Implementation on the reforms will continue after the parliamentary elections as well. Our economic growth a year ago was at 4.9 % and now it is increased upto 6 %. We are holding Astana Investment Forum on 8-9 June this year. We seek active and open economy and for that we need active governance system. That is the reason the President worked upon constitutional reforms. It is an effort to introduce better political system, Mr. Roman noted.
He added, ” Kazakhstan has attracted a foreign direct investment of $ 417 Billion so far. European Union’s investment is $ 160 Billion while USA invested $ 40 Billion. This makes Europe the biggest investor in Kazakhstan. We are exploring new Kazakh Europe Connection now. Kazakhstan signed second generation agreement with EU before Russia Ukrain issue arised. We do not intend to remain stuck (with EU)at energy or manufacturing sector only. We want multidimensional cooperation. Kazakhstan has multi facet foreign policy. We want to establish and promote ties with all. We respect all nations in the world.”
