KP Gov Assures CPNE of Payments of Longstanding Dues As Early As Possible

Peshawar : 27 Sep 2024 – The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), the sole representative body of publishers, media house owners, and editors, held its Executive Committee Meeting in Peshawar.
The meeting was attended by member editors from across Pakistan to discuss the political, security, and media landscape, with a particular focus on the increasing polarization and economic conditions in the country, as well as developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan.
Tahir Farooq, President of CPNE’s KP Chapter, briefed the members on these key issues.Ejaz ul Haq, Secretary General, and Irshad Arif, President CPNE also spoke on the problems faced by the print media due to long pending payments of gov advertisements.
Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, the Information Minister and Secretary Information Arshad Khan  participated in the meeting from government side. Both officials assured the editors and publishers to see the matter deeply and do the needful as early as possible.
A total of 45 editors/publishers participated in person, representing various regions: 4 senior journalists from Balochistan, 8 from Sindh, 9 from Punjab, and 5 from Islamabad, with others joining via Zoom.
The delegation also met with the Chief Minister of KP, Ali Amin Gandapur, at CM House KP, where discussions focused on regional developments,cross border threats and problems faced by media in KP and Baluchistan.
