Washington / London (Monitoring Desk) Nancy Sidley, a well-known American influencer who hosts a podcast called “Twin Talk” with her twin sister, has raised questions in a post on X (formerly Twitter) about the financial reports of Malala Yousafzai’s charity, Malala Fund.

According to Nancy Sedley, the Malala Fund’s annual report for 2024-2025 shows total revenue of $16.48 million while total expenses were $23.34 million, resulting in spending approximately $6.86 million more than income.

The organization’s net assets were $42.97 million. These figures are also confirmed by the official annual report of the Malala Fund.

According to the report: Total revenue and support: $16,479,236 Total expenses: $23,335,798 Change in net assets: ($6,856,562) loss Net assets at end of year: $42,970,317

Nancy Sedley mentioned the compensation of the organization’s senior officials, stating that the CEO was paid approximately $372,000, the Chief Advisor $320,000, and the Chief Operating Officer approximately $241,000, while tax documents also mention travel by first class or private aircraft for key officials or employees.

She questioned how much of the $18.94 million spent on programs actually reaches girls and local educational organizations, and how much is spent on salaries, consultants, awareness campaigns and travel expenses.

According to her, donors have the right to know what measurable results of educational programs have emerged and how independent verification of those results is possible. She also raised the question of why an organization with an annual income of $16.48 million spent more than $23 million.

Nancy Sedley took the position that it is not unreasonable to ask for details of the use of funds from an organization that collects millions of dollars in the name of education for underprivileged girls.

According to her, the focus of a charitable organization should be on the welfare cause, not on the celebrity associated with it.At the end of the post, she referred to Malala Yousafzai dining at London’s Claridge’s hotel and said in a sarcastic manner that now she understands why Malala appeared so calm there.

It should be noted that no formal response has yet been received from Malala Fund regarding Nancy’s allegations.

The organization says it has given $9.8 million in grants last year, including $2.95 million for girls’ education in Nigeria.
