The meeting of the Chief of Defense Forces and Chiefs of General Staff of the States’ Parties to the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement was held in Riyadh on Friday September 25th, 2026, with the participation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the Republic of Türkiye.
According to ISPR of Pakistan , They noted that their meeting in Riyadh reflects the strength of their defense partnership and their shared determination to immediately translate the commitments of the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement into effective military cooperation.
The Chiefs of Defense Forces and Chiefs of General Staff reviewed the security situation and the threats facing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They strongly resented the attacks targeting the Holy City of Makkah and civilian and economic infrastructure.
They appreciated the vigilance and professionalism of the Saudi Armed Forces for ensuring safety of the people and security of the Kingdom.
The participants also discussed ways to further advance cooperation among the armed forces of the three countries and to enhance intelligence sharing, military coordination, and capability integration, thereby strengthening deterrence and collective defense.
The participants commended the longstanding relations and mutual trust that bind the people and the armed forces of the three countries.
The participants strongly affirmed their commitment to collective defense thereby demonstrating the resolve of the three countries in defending the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. ISPR Press Release Ends Here
How to Implement Makkah Agreement Against Houthis ? Three Military Chiefs to Meet and Decide Soon
Earlier on 25 Sep in New York, Foreign Ministers of Pakistan Ishaq Dar, Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Türkiye Hakan Fidan met on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Under the framework of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement (MJDA), they reviewed progress towards establishing the institutional structures under the Agreement and exchanged views on regional and international security issues.
Expert on Middle East affairs, Editor of Pakistan in the World Media Group, Mr. Tazeen Akhtar said , from Pakistani side , the Yemen issue and Houthi challenge has not been included in the Press Release of the military media department but it is a clear matter that the Saudi security is facing threats from the Houthis only. The translations of agreement into military cooperation and that immediately means that Houthis can face the music if they do not stop their strikes on Saudia and their advance to Bab al-Mandeb to occupy and block it for international navigation.
He said, Pakistan is careful in its statements regarding the situation in Yemen only because of its mediatory role between Iran and US. The Houthis are backed mainly by Iran and a direct address to them by Pakistan may create complications in the ongoing mediation process and relations with Iran.
Tazeen Akhtar added that Saudi Arabia is Pakistan’s Red Line and Pakistan will never leave Saudia alone if Houthis do not stop strikes and advances against the normal martime activities in Red Sea, do not come to dialogue and peaceful resolution of the conflict. Turkiye has trade of billions of dollars through Red Sea with African countries. Therefore , Turkiye also can not remain indifferent to the situation.
