ISLAMABAD : Monitoring Desk – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had a meeting with H.E. Emomali Rahmon, President of Republic of Tajikistan in Beijing, China on 02 Sep 2025.
PM Office shared, Both leaders expressed their satisfaction on the ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan in all areas of mutual interest. The two leaders agreed to enhance collaboration in diverse fields including trade and investment, connectivity, energy, regional security, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-Tajikistan relations rooted in shared cultural, historical, and religious ties. The two leaders also shared perspectives on regional and global issues of common concern.
Tajikistan side released the details as ; The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met in Beijing within the framework of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Honorable Shehbaz Sharif.
During the conversation, the current state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
The President of our country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, emphasized the commitment of Tajikistan to the development and expansion of multifaceted relations between Tajikistan and Pakistan.
Honorable Shehbaz Sharif, in turn, stated that “the friendship and brotherhood between us and you and the peoples of Pakistan and Tajikistan comes from the heart and we highly value this.”
Issues of strengthening and expanding relations between the two countries in the political, trade and economic spheres, especially energy and transport, culture, science and education, technology, and security and defense were reviewed. Further development of interparliamentary cooperation was considered necessary.
The role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission was deemed important in discussing and resolving a range of issues of economic, trade, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. In this context, the parties called for more active engagement in other means of promoting cooperation, including the Oil, Gas, Energy Working Group and the Joint Business Council.
It was stressed that in the current circumstances, cooperation in the transport sector is of key importance for both sides. The establishment of the Joint Council of Shipping Companies of the two countries was considered an effective step in this direction.
The interest of Tajikistan in accessing international transport corridors and world ports was expressed.
Cooperation in the field of hydropower and the development of the regional electricity market, including the timely implementation of the CASA-1000 project, was considered important.
When discussing issues of cooperation in the security sector, the issue of combating international terrorism, extremism, preventing drug trafficking and other manifestations of transnational organized crime was discussed.
During the conversation, the results of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as individual issues on the international and regional agenda, were also discussed by the parties.
