Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has hinted at fostering defense cooperation with Morocco alongwith economic, trade partnerships in his keynote address as chief guest at the 27th anniversary of the King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the Throne.
The minister, Gov of Pakistan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan have extended congratulations and best wishes for the King, government and people of brotherly country.
He said Morocco has a special place in Pakistan’s Engage Africa Policy as it is bridge for Pakistan to Africa, Arab World and Europe. Mentioning three high level visits to Morocco from Pakistan this year as a road map, the minister said , both countries are now moving forward to enhancing the cooperation level.
He was optimistic about further increasing the bilateral cooperation in agriculture, education, higher education, renewable energy ( that Morocco claims to be a champion of) pharma, tourism and other fields.
Ambassador Mohamed Karmoune in his welcome address apprised the guests on the importance of the day for his country. He said the day is an occasion for the renewal of the strong ties that unite the Moroccan people with their Monarch and the celebration of positive transformations and great achievements that Morocco has accomplished over the last twenty-seven years under the leadership of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI. It is also an occasion to evaluate the present and reflects on the challenges that still lie ahead to achieve a modern and prosperous State.
H.E said, Over the past 27 years, the democratic institutions have been strengthened, the country’s GDP has more than tripled and the social protection policy has witnessed considerable efforts to improve access of the population to Medicare and social services.
The security and stability enjoyed by Morocco, as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of the state institutions have allowed an important economic development and have shown positive indicators across different sectors, thus boosting economic growth and reinforcing national sovereignty. Morocco’s economic growth rate stood at approximately 4.9% in 2025 and is expected to be roughly the same or higher by the 2026.
” Morocco has also been able to strengthen its position as a hub for industry, tourism, and financial investment, as shown by the evolution of the indicators concerned, particularly in industry. Today, the automotive, aviation, renewable energy, and food processing sectors are fundamental pillars of the national production fabric, be it in terms of attracting foreign investment, or the creation of wealth and job opportunities, Ambassador shared.
The Kingdom has become the leading exporter of cars in Africa, with a
production capacity of nearly one million cars a year.
As a result, Moroccan exports from the automotive and aviation sectors have exceeded 40% of our total exports, ahead of Fertilizer sector. Furthermore, establishing an industrial and technological base in the areas of defense and cybersecurity will gradually contribute to strengthening defense sovereignty, creating development opportunities, and consolidating Morocco’s position as a regional power in these industries.
Ambassador shared , the tourism sector achieved a historic milestone in 2025, with nearly 20 million tourist arrivals, including members of the diaspora. Here it is worth noting that Morocco may see the simplification of Visa for Pakistanis that has been closed for long time.
Morocco Pakistan Relations
Ambassador reciprocating to the remarks of Pakistnai minister detailed on bilateral cooperation. He said , the celebration of Throne Day by the Embassy of the Kingdom in Pakistan is also an opportunity to highlight the historical relations of cooperation that exist between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
These relations are rich and promissing. As an Ambassador of his Majesty the King of Morocco to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, he paid tribute to the brotherly relations which unites our two countries. This relations are based on mutual respect, trust and historical ties that have linked our two countries for more than 72 years.
On the political level, our cooperation is getting stronger, by maintaining a regular political dialogue, reinforcement of the legal framework, numerous exchanges of high-level visits, and exemplary coordination in the different International Organizations.
The Kingdom of Morocco is determined to continue its cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. We strongly believe that working together will achieve our common development vision and embed our relations in excellence.
