Pakistan Looks Forward to Strengthening / Enhancing of Bilateral Cooperation under New Leadership of Bulgaria

ISLAMABAD : 15 May 2026 –  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended warm felicitations to Mr. Rumen Radev on his assumption of the office of the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, expressing his desire to working closely with him for stronger bilateral cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has extended his heartiest congratulations to Dr. Velislava Petrova-Chamova on her appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a letter to him,  congratulated Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev on his election to the high office.

“On behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan, as well as on my own behalf, I wish to extend our warm and cordial felicitations to you, on assumption of the Office of the Prime Minister of Bulgaria,” the prime minister wrote.

He said that Radev’s election to this high office was a testament to the trust and confidence reposed by the people of Bulgaria in his tremendous abilities and sagacious leadership.

“Pakistan and Bulgaria enjoy close and cordial relations based on mutual respect and goodwill. I am confident that under Your Excellency’s sagacious leadership, these ties will continue to strengthen. In this context, I look forward to working closely with Your Excellency’s Government to further advance cooperation between our two countries,” the letter stated.

Prime Minister Shehbaz conveyed his best wishes for Radev’s continued good health, success, and happiness, as well as for peace, progress, and prosperity of the friendly people of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Earlier, on April 22, the prime minister had also congratulated Rumen Radev on his party’s victory in the Bulgarian parliamentary elections.

“I congratulate H.E. Mr Rumen Radev on his historic victory in the recently held Parliamentary elections in Bulgaria,” he wrote on his X timeline.

He said that Pakistan valued its cordial and friendly relations with Bulgaria and looked forward to working closely with the newly elected Bulgarian Government to further strengthen the bilateral ties.

Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, in a congratulatory letter, the deputy prime minister expressed confidence that under her able leadership, Bulgarian diplomacy would continue to flourish and accomplish great feats.

He said that he looked forward to working closely with her to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in multilateral fora.

The deputy prime minister also wished the great Bulgarian nation continued peace, progress, and prosperity.

Earlier on May 8, Deputy Prime Minister Dar had also felicitated Dr. Velislava Petrova-Chamova through a post on his X timeline and wished her every success in this important role.

“Look forward to further strengthening the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Bulgaria and to expanding our mutually beneficial bilateral and multilateral cooperation,” Dar wrote.
