ISLAMABAD : 14 May 2026 –  Ambassador of Tajikistan, H.E Sharifzoda Yousuf Toir called on Federal Minister Climate Change  Dr. Musadik Malik in laters office. The sides discussed deepening ties on climate change, water management, wildlife protection and regional connectivity.

The dialogue set priorities ahead of the 4th High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” in Dushanbe, where Dr. Musadik Malik will represent the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The Ambassador highlighted that Pakistan and Tajikistan share striking environmental parallels, noting each country hosts nearly 13,000 glaciers and that roughly 1,000 glaciers have already been lost to time and climate change.

Both sides stressed that Pakistan Tajikistan cooperation is essential to address accelerating glacial melt and its downstream impacts on water security and livelihoods.

Discussion also covered biodiversity and protected species common to both countries, including markhor, snow leopards, ibex and numerous migratory birds.
