Manila/ Philippines: Pakistani  Senator Khalida Ateeb, a member of the Senate of Pakistan’s parliamentary delegation, addressed the UNITE Global Summit 2026 and underscored the importance of immunization as a vital investment in public health, sustainable development, and economic resilience.
She stated that parliaments have a critical role in advancing immunization through legislation, budgetary support, and effective oversight, ensuring that every child, particularly those in underserved communities, has equitable access to life-saving vaccines.
Referring to Pakistan’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), Senator Ateeb noted that the programme provides free vaccines to millions of children and pregnant women annually. She emphasized the need to strengthen routine immunization, counter vaccine misinformation, and enhance public confidence through parliamentary leadership and community engagement.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to global health, she said the country would continue working with international partners to promote sustainable immunization financing, strengthen health systems, and ensure that no child is left behind.
