The President, Leader of the Nation of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon has emphasized, amidst the turbulent and crisis-ridden conditions of the modern world, peace, stability, national unity, and social tranquility are the most valuable assets for fostering constructive efforts and a dignified life. He stressed safeguarding them is the duty of every citizen of Tajikistan.
Tajikistan celebrated its 35th anniversary of state independence on September 9, 2026, with President leading nationwide festivities and addressing the country. President attended and delivered a speech at the cultural program held at the National Stadium in Dushanbe. The Mayor of the capital city Rustam Emomali was also present.
At the outset, the President sincerely congratulated all those present on the occasion of this great and historic celebration—the 35th anniversary of the independence and freedom of our beloved Motherland.
He emphasized that 35 years ago, our beloved Tajikistan gained independence, and the Tajik people secured the opportunity for sovereignty, the ability to chart an independent path of progress and development, and the chance to revive national and cultural values as well as ancient traditions of statehood.
The Head of State said that it was precisely peace, stability, and social tranquility that created a solid foundation for the constructive development of the Homeland and the state’s steady progress.
“It was precisely to safeguard peace and tranquility—an issue that has become a pressing concern for the global community, especially in recent years—that the United Nations General Assembly recently adopted the resolution titled ‘International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036),’ which was proposed by Tajikistan,” stated the Leader of the Nation, the Honorable Emomali Rahmon.
He noted that this initiative represents our sovereign country’s contribution to strengthening global peace and is, of course, a source of pride for its people, who—only a few decades ago—endured a horrific, imposed civil war.
Regarding the construction of the magnificent National Stadium, the President stated that as part of the constructive efforts leading up to the sacred 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s state independence, we are today witnessing another memorable event: the inauguration of the National Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 30,000.
He stated that all the development and improvements achieved to date in our beloved country—including in its capital, Dushanbe—are the fruits of independence and freedom.
The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, called upon the people of the country to cherish the priceless blessings of independence, freedom, complete peace and stability, and national unity, and to strive in unity and solidarity to safeguard and strengthen the foundations of our beloved Homeland’s independence.
In his concluding remarks, the President expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the executive body of state power of capital—Dushanbe—as well as to the heads of regions, cities, and districts, and the entire industrious people of the country, for their dedicated and patriotic efforts, for making the city beautiful and well-developed, and for their active participation in the celebratory events.
Following the address by the President, a grand theatrical performance titled “35 Years of Shaping Destiny”—dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Tajikistan—was held at the National Stadium.
This magnificent, festive performance was structured into thematic segments, including the nation’s civilizational journey, food security, energy independence, overcoming the transport-communication deadlock, industry as the foundation of progress, the UN resolution on “Water for Sustainable Development,” and digital advancement.
The festive concert program featured poems by renowned Tajik poets—such as Davlat Safar, Ozarakhsh, Gulnazar Keldi, Rustami Vahhob, Behruzi Zabehullo, Ozari Orif, Ra’noi Muboriz, Kamol Nasrullo, Shamsiddini Nuriddin, Nurulloi Orif, Nazri Yazdon, Nihoni, Ato Mirkhoja, Khayrandesh, Saydoi Shaydo, Tolibi Luqmon, Muhammad Ghoib, and Nizom Qosim—under titles including “Partavi Iftikhor” (Ray of Pride), “Gulbihisht” (Floral Paradise), “Dar Zinarohi Istiqlol” (On the Path of Independence), “Surudi Millii Tojikiston” (National Anthem of Tajikistan), “Oriyoyam” (I Am Aryan), “Somoniyam” (I Am Samanid), “Sozu Navoi Vatan” (Melodies of the Homeland), “Nomai Iqbol” (Letter of Fortune), “Baqoi Millat” (Perpetuity of the Nation), “Khalq va Peshvo” (The People and the Leader), “Vatani Purganj” (Treasure-Laden Homeland), “Tojikiston” (Tajikistan), “Dushanbe—Shahri Gulho” (Dushanbe—City of Flowers), “Dushanbe—Shahri Javoni” (Dushanbe—City of Youth), and “Ramzi Istiqlol” (Symbol of Independence).

Amidst the festive atmosphere of the National Stadium, melodies by renowned composers Daler Tilloyev, Faizali Umar, Nazira Hamdamova, Farhod Zikir, Sulaymon Yudakov, Nosir Safarzoda, Tobish Hiloli, Ismoil Nazri, Furqat Saidzoda, Shavkat Umarov, Haqnazar Alovatov, Rahmatullo Hoshimov, Olimjon Solizoda, Iskandar Tohirov, Zafar Rahimi, Abdulkhayr Muminov, Muboraksho Jumaev, Ubaydullo Ibrohimzoda, Nasim Rajabov, Yoqub Abdulloev, Muhammad Juraev, Bakhtiyor Haitov, and Zayniddin Karimov resounded.

On September 7, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, attended and delivered a speech at a military parade dedicated to the 35th anniversary of State Independence, held at Istiklol Square in Dushanbe.
The Head of State congratulated the people of Tajikistan and military personnel on Independence Day and particularly emphasized the role of the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies in safeguarding peace and stability, ensuring national security, and protecting the achievements of independence.
More than 27,000 representatives of the Armed Forces, security and law enforcement agencies, mobilization reserves, female military personnel, and veterans took part in the military parade.
The military parade was regarded as a symbol of high readiness, discipline, patriotism, and the devotion of the courageous sons of Tajikistan to the state and the nation.
