
ISLAMABAD: From Editor’s Desk – President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has welcomed the peace agreement signed in Washington between H.E. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and H.E. President of the Republic of Armenia to be a historically significant achievement.
He said in a statement in Astana, the document has put an end to the long-standing military conflict between the two states and paved the way for the establishment of diplomatic relations and the development of cooperation between them on the basis of a lasting peace.
According to the Head of State, the signing of this unique agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia became possible thanks to the vigorous and effective mediation mission of H.E. President of the United States Donald Trump, who succeeded in persuading the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders to fully demonstrate political will and strategic foresight.
H.E. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the Republic of Kazakhstan also made its own contribution to achieving such important arrangements between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia by offering the city of Almaty as the venue for negotiations at the level of Ministers of Foreign Affairs on the key parameters of the peace treaty.
