The independence day is a truly historic and unforgettable day for the Tajik people. We are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan as one of the most important dates in the modern history of Tajik statehood. With great respect and sincerity, I congratulate all the people of Tajikistan, our compatriots abroad and friends of Tajikistan on this great occasion, and wish peace, stability, health and happiness to every Tajik family.Independence for the Tajik nation is not just a calendar date.

It is a symbol of freedom, sovereignty, revival of national statehood and our historic responsibility to past and future generations. Thirty-five years of independence was not an easy path. The first years of independence were extremely difficult and fateful for Tajikistan, as the civil war inflicted huge human and economic losses on the country.

In such difficult conditions, the people of Tajikistan, relying on national wisdom and strong will, chose the path of peace and national unity. One of the most important achievements of the Tajik people in this period was achieving peace and national unity.

The restoration of peace, the return of hundreds of thousands of refugees to their homeland and the creation of necessary conditions for state development is considered an important example of Tajikistan’s peace-making experience.

Today we can proudly say that thanks to the constructive and far-sighted policy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, Tajikistan has passed through an extremely difficult historical stage and turned into an independent, peace-loving and developing state.

In this context, Tajikistan has identified the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence as a priority direction of state policy, and is expanding digitalization of public administration, social services, financial system and business activities.

President Emomali Rahmon Emphasizes Peace, Stability, National Unity, Social Tranquility as the Most Valuable Assets of Tajikistan

The adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution entitled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Creating New Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Central Asia” proposed by Tajikistan is our country’s contribution to advancing this pressing issue. This initiative and the activities of domestic innovation centers will allow Tajikistan to become one of the important hubs for development and implementation of advanced technologies in the region in the future.

Along with economic development, protection of culture and historical heritage is also one of the important directions of Tajikistan’s state policy. The Tajik language, culture, literature, national traditions and historical heritage are an integral part of the national identity of Tajiks.Tajikistan, as the land of Rudaki, Ferdowsi, Ibn Sina, Mawlana and other great sons of human civilization, has a rich cultural heritage. We preserve and present this heritage not only as a national treasure, but also as the contribution of Tajiks to world civilization.

On the initiative of the Government of Tajikistan, in order to pay tribute to the world-famous stars of Tajik science and literature and the role of our country’s historical monuments in the formation of universal human civilization, 16 festivals and anniversaries have been held under the auspices of UNESCO. These achievements reflect not only the richness of our national culture, but also a constructive social environment, which is possible only in an atmosphere of peace and sustainable development.

During this period, the masterpiece “Tajiks” by Babajan Gafurov and the immortal “Shahnameh” by Abulqasim Ferdowsi were published and distributed free of charge to every family in the country.

President Zardari felicitates Tajikistan on 35th Independence Anniversary

It is noteworthy that the traditions of Tajik statehood originate from the depths of history and have an unbreakable link with the names of great Aryan personalities. Cyrus the Great has a special place in the history of mankind as a symbol of justice, tolerance and respect for human rights. On November 6, 2025, on the initiative of Tajikistan, at the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, a resolution entitled “Cyrus Cylinder: The First Declaration of Human Rights and Cultural Diversity” was adopted.

Over the 35 years of independence, Tajikistan has pursued a balanced, peaceful and constructive foreign policy and, on the basis of the principle of “open doors”, has gained a worthy place in the world arena.

During independence, 20 resolutions were adopted by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Tajikistan, which are currently being implemented.Recently, the adoption of a UN General Assembly resolution on declaring the “Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations, 2027-2036” on the initiative of Tajikistan is another confirmation of the peace-making and unity-promoting efforts of the Tajik state in advancing the global peace agenda.

In this context, extensive regional cooperation for ensuring security and stability in Central Asia is recognized as the most important direction of our foreign policy. In March last year, two historic documents were signed – the Treaty between the Republic of Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the junction point of the state borders of the three countries and the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship, which are historic achievements of the independence period in the process of peaceful resolution of border issues between our countries.
