Thailand Embassy Celebrates National Day in Islamabad – Both Sides Pledge to take Mutual Cooperation to Next Level

    Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan has reiterated the resolve of government of Pakistan to promote bilateral cooperation with Kingdom of Thailand. He termed the mutual bonds as multifaceted and deep rooted in the history with shared heritage and culture especially Buddhist and Gandhara civilizations.
    He said this in his speech as chief guest at the National Day celebration by Embassy of Thailand in Islamabad at Serena Hotels. Ms Kamolwan Sriposil, Charge d Affaires hosted a grand reception to mark the day that is also the Father’s Day in Thailand. Thailand’s Ambassador-designate Rongvudhi Virabutr was also present at the occasion. He is a career diplomat with extensive experience of representing Thailand in various countries.

    Father’s Day,is commemorated on Dec 5 every year that is birthday of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
    Thailand is culturally one of the richest countries in the world and the colors of beautiful Thai culture as well as marshal arts Muay Thai were displayed for the information and amusement of the guests. The artists were specially called for the stage performances that enthralled the audience and received huge applause.
    Heads of ASEAN countries, high officials of civil and military services, members of parliament of Pakistan, civil society, business community and media representatives attended the celebration in large number.
    Ms. Kamolwan Sriposil, Charge d Affaires, in her welcome remarks shed light on the day with special reference to the World Soil Day celebrated in Thailand. She mentioned the the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy that was introduced by late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
    (The Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy (SEP) is a development approach that emphasizes moderation, prudence, and social immunity to guide people’s behavior at all levels of society. It was introduced by King Rama IX of Thailand in the 1970s as an alternative to mainstream development. The SEP is based on the principles of Theravada Buddhism and the idea that sustainable development can be achieved by integrating the physical, social, and spiritual dimensions of rural communities.)
    The Charge d Affaires welcoming and introducing the Ambassador said that under the leadership of Rongvudhi Birabutr, the embassy was committed to taking Pakistan-Thailand relations to the next level.
    She expressed resolve to take the bilateral cooperation to the next level in coming days. She said,” We are celebrating 73 years of diplomatic relations but our historical ties date back 2,000 years to the Gandhara civilization.”
    Ms. Kamolwan Sriposil spoke highly on mutual cooperation, With ongoing negotiations on free trade agreement. She was confident that greater opportunities awaited for more collaboration while the bilateral trade level is $2 Billion.
    She mentioned the role of Thai companies operating and investing in Pakistan including Thai Airways and said that the companies are contributing a lot in economic growth, create jobs and improve livelihoods.
    She was optimistic on the potential of Pakistan as a nation of immense potential from the abundance of natural resources to strength of the young population. She appreciated the hospitality and generosity of Pakistani people.
    Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said, Pakistan and Thailand enjoyed close relations, based on historic linkages, shared values and common interests.
    He noted that Thailand is on the path of development since long among the ASEAN region. Pakistan is partner with Thailand for global peace and shared development. Both countries are working together at different international platforms on common challenges like climate change and UN SDGs.
    Rana Sanaullah expressed the resolve of the government of Pakistan to explore more avenues of mutual cooperation and increase in trade. He pledged to further deepen the economic collaboration with Thailand.
    The reception was a great attraction for the guests for traditional Thai food, cultural dances and handicrafts displayed at the spacious halls of the hotel. The chief guest was taken to the stalls and briefed by the staff of the embassy. He took keen interest in all aspects of Thai culture and society. He had detailed discussion with the new Ambassador at the dining table and assured him full assistance in promotion of bilateral cooperation.
