ISLAMABAD : Uzbekistan has become second country after Azerbaijan to contribute in the beautification of the capital city Islamabad with state of the art Park giving it a historical touch with respect to the pioneer of Moghal dynasty in the Sub Continent , the Emperor Zaheer ud Din Babur.
The park is located at Faisal Avenue in front of Centaurus Mall where the Embassy of Uzbekistan has started renovation work as the follow up of the agreements reached in the summit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad in Feb 2026.
Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev, in the same connection, called on Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Sohail Ashraf at the CDA Headquarters. H.E Tukhtaev discussed matters related to this project including prospects of further strengthening of bilateral relations were discussed.
Chairman CDA Sohail Ashraf said that Pakistan views its relations with brotherly country with great value and respect.
Uzbek Ambassador said that Pakistan and Uzbekistan have longstanding common cultural and heritage brotherly relations. He appreciated the beauty and greenery of Islamabad.
H.E. Uzbek Ambassador informed regarding the establishment of Babar Park on Faisal Avenue, said that formal work on the construction of Babur Park has begun. Babur Park is a gift for the people of Pakistan from the Government of Uzbekistan. He added that Babar Park would be among the best parks in Islamabad.
Chairman CDA appreciated the design concept of the Babur Park project and said that he would soon visit the Park project site along with the Ambassador.
H.E. Uzbek Ambassador said that an MoU signing ceremony to grant Islamabad and Tashkent the status of sister cities is expected soon.
During the meeting the possibilities of relocating the Uzbek embassy to the Diplomatic Enclave were discussed. In this regard, Chairman CDA said that they are ready to provide all possible cooperation.
H.E. Uzbek Ambassador said that Tashkent Street was established in Islamabad to strengthen brotherly relations. He expressed the desire to establish sister city relations between Islamabad and Fergana the historic city of Uzbekistan.
Chairman CDA expressed his desire to work together for beautification and betterment of Islamabad. He further said that they want to fully benefit from Uzbekistan’s experience and capabilities for the beauty and development of Islamabad City.
The meeting also reaffirmed the commitment to cooperation in other areas of mutual interest and to further strengthen ties at the city level.
