Vietnam always closely follows developments in the East Sea : Spokesperson

ISLAMABAD: Monitoring Desk – Vietnam has termed the surveys of Chinese ships in East Asia as illegal. The spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms, Pham Thu Hang has said , ” Chinese ships conducting illegal surveys in our country’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.”

Pham Thu Hang said that Vietnamese authorities always closely follow developments in the East Sea. He said this at a regular press conference on the afternoon of July 3. The presser was meant to share Vietnam’s viewpoint and reaction to information about the surveys.

Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated that foreign research and survey activities in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf – established in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) – without Vietnam’s permission violates Vietnam’s sovereignty and jurisdiction.

Vietnamese authorities always closely follow developments in the East Sea and implement measures in accordance with international and Vietnamese law. These actions aim to ensure Vietnam’s legitimate rights and interests.

No response from Chinese gov or the Embassy of China in Pakistan has been shared on the press conference.
