Teachers and students of Wiqar un Nisa Girls College have been directed by the Director of Colleges Sher Ali Satti to attend a function in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day on 5 Feb while already 8 cases of Corona have been on record.
Teacher Mehreen Pervez, Teacher Mah Jabeen, Teacher Saira Javed and 5 students are Corona positive so far. We have the names of students as well but we do not think sharing their names is necessary.
The Principal Dr Zahida Perveen herself informed the District Health Officer in a letter about these 8 cases. The college was closed afterwards. But now the teachers and students have been directed to attend a function on 5 Feb. They fear that they will be at risk in the function because large number of people will be there.
It has been learnt from sources that Commissioner Rawalpindi has pressurized the administration of the college to call the staff and students.
Director Colleges Rawalpindi Sher Ali Satti was approached by Bol News who said that the function will be held in the college hall and limited number of people will attend it. He shared the “limited number” as 300.
Parents have appealed to the Commissioner to review the decision and save the students from the pandemic.
