Islamabad, May 22, 2025 – A high-level delegation from the World Bank, led by Ms. Anna Bjerde, Managing Director of Operations, visited the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Headquarters in Islamabad today.
During the visit, the delegation received a detailed briefing on NADRA’s initiatives to develop a robust and inclusive digital public infrastructure. Key focus of the discussion was the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP), a World Bank-funded initiative aimed at establishing the foundation for a secure and accessible digital ecosystem in Pakistan.
DEEP is designed to empower citizens by enabling seamless access to public and financial services through a reliable and secure digital identity system and National Data Exchange Layer. The project marks a significant step toward enhancing service delivery and fostering greater economic inclusion.
Chairman NADRA provided an in-depth overview of the progress on the Project especially regarding Pakistan’s digital identity framework. He outlined ongoing efforts to modernise the public services through cutting-edge technologies and citizen-centric approach.
The World Bank delegation also included Mr. Najy Benhassine, Country Director for Pakistan, South Asia Region, and Mr. Gailius Draugelis, Operations Manager for Pakistan.
