ISLAMABAD: 06 Nov 2023 – Pakistan and the World Health Organization signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of health.
The signing ceremony was held here on Monday in which Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, Caretaker Minister for National Health Dr. Nadeem Jan, Secretary Health Iftikhar Ali Shalwani and DG Health Dr. Basir Achakzai were also present. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by National Health Secretary Iftikhar Shilvani and World Health Organization Country Director Dr. Pletha Mahipala.
On this occasion, Director General Health Dr. Basir Achakzai said during the briefing that universal health coverage for treatment is the first priority of the government and for this purpose, the issue of universal health coverage was discussed in the United Nations General Assembly. He said Universal health coverage has been introduced across the country. 
For this, the World Health Organization in Pakistan is supporting us in providing medical equipment, ambulances and mobile units, labor rooms and improving primary and secondary health facilities.
He said that the World Health Organization is providing treatment facilities including vehicles in more than 450 health centers in remote areas, which will provide better health facilities to the people.
On this occasion, the prime minister was given the keys of ambulances and mobile health units. The Prime Minister also inspected the ambulances provided by the World Health Organization.
