Pakistan Expresses Commitment to Further Deepen & Widen Relations with Iran

TEHRAN : Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran today on 26 May, 2025. He is visiting Iran on the invitation of President Pezeshkian. Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Federal ministers for Interior, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Federal Minister for Information Mr. Attaullah Tarrar and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi.

The Prime Minister was presented guard of honor on his arrival at presidency. He inspected thel guard and then both the leaders head their respective delegations for bilateral talks.

The Prime Minister thanked Iran’s leadership for showing concern for Pakistan during recent conflict with India and its offer to mediate for peace in the region. He also briefed Iran’s leadership about Indian expansionist aims, which are a threat to regional peace and stability and underlined that Pakistan remains committed to upholding the ceasefire.

The Prime Minister while acknowledging the presence of deep historical, cultural, religious and civilizational ties between both neighbors committed to further deepen and widen relationship with Iran.

The Prime Minster underscored that terrorism posed an existential threat to the region and emphasized that both Iran and Pakistan, fully cognizant of designs of external actors, must deepen their cooperation to fight the menace of terrorism.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the resolution of Jammu and Kashmir issue according to the aspirations of its people and relevant UNSC resolutions, was critical to bring peace and stability in the region.

President Pezeshkian welcomed the Prime Minister and his delegation and assured the Pakistani leader to take steps for regional peace and stability. The two leaders reaffirmed that strengthening of peace and progress in Afghanistan was also vital for regional stability.

The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s desire to raise the volume of bilateral trade and further deepen the trade cooperation with Iran. The two sides committed to an early resolution of the Iran-Pakistan Pipeline project through mutual consultations.

The Prime Minister strongly condemned Israel for its atrocities against the Palestinian people in Gaza and called for an end to the genocidal policies of Israel paving the way for two-states solution in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

Prime Minister extended an invitation to President Masoud Pezeshkian to pay visit to Pakistan at his earliest convenience.

*Prime Minister Calls on the Supreme Leader of Iran*

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid a courtesy call on His Eminence Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran today on 26th May,2025. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarrar.

During the call, the Prime Minister conveyed his deepest respect to the Supreme Leader underlining that His Eminence was an iconic figure in the Muslim World and the Muslim Ummah looked up to him for guidance and patronage. The Prime Minister briefed HE about recent conflict with India and India’s hegemonistic and revisionist designs and profusely thanked leadership of Iran for supporting Pakistan against Indian aggression. The Prime Minister underlined that Pakistan always desired that peace could prevail in the region leading to economic development and prosperity.

The Prime Minister briefed the Supreme Leader about the steps taken to elevate Pakistan- Iran ties to highest levels and maintained that his government was committed to further deepen strategic cooperation with Iran in the complex geo-political times.

The Prime Minister praised the farsightedness of the Iranian leadership in pursuing the nuclear negotiations with the United States and hoped that a constructive deal is reached between the two countries. That can promote peace and stability in the region.

The Supreme Leader appreciated the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in promoting regional peace and stability with farsightedness and praised his personal commitment to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran ties. The Supreme Leader prayed for greater prosperity, growth, and development of Pakistan and its people.

The Prime Minister deeply appreciated Supreme Leader’s dedication to the poetry of Allam Iqbal, the poet of the East, and particularly requested the Supreme Leader to visit Pakistan again at earliest convenience.
