Australian delegation briefed at FIA Pakistan about efforts against human trafficking, migrant smuggling, financial crimes

    ISLAMABAD : A high-level delegation from the Australian High Commission visited FIA Headquarters and held a meeting with Director General FIA Dr. Usman Anwar and other senior officers of FIA.
    The delegation was led by Australian Ambassador for Counter Terrorism, Gemma Huggins and included Robert Rushby, Ms. Dita Nasim, Peter Steinle and Richard Salmons.
    During the meeting, Director General FIA Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted FIA’s ongoing efforts against terrorism, human trafficking, migrant smuggling, financial crimes, and other transnational organized crimes.
    He emphasized that effective international cooperation, timely intelligence sharing, and coordinated operational strategies are essential to counter emerging security threats.
    The DG FIA reiterated FIA’s commitment to strengthening professional liaison with international law enforcement partners, particularly Australian authorities, in areas of information exchange, technological support, and institutional capacity building.
    Both sides also discussed enhancing cooperation through specialized training programs, technical assistance, and sharing of best practices aimed at improving investigative capabilities and strengthening counter terrorism mechanisms.
    The meeting concluded with a mutual resolve to further expand bilateral cooperation and promote effective international coordination against organized and transnational crimes.
