Azerbaijan Armed Forces and the people together fought two wars on Karabakh and hundreds of aggressions without provocations in last 3 decades. They have proved that keeping their territories and people under illegal occupation is not possible. They sooner or later get their territories liberated fighting the brutalities and conspiracies valiantly. Another lesson they have taught to the enemy is that, if the leadership is clear and determined to do something for implementation of justice , no power how big whatsoever it is can stand against the nation. Azerbaijan has such leadership in the shape of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev.
The Embassy of Azerbaijan to Pakistan hosted a grand event on 27 September 2023 as The Remembrance Day to pay homage and offer fatiha for the martyrs of the motherland. The event also marked the book presentation of “The History of Patriotic War – Personality Factor”. Mr. Khazar Farhadov , Ambassador shed the light on the history of Karabakh and the back ground of the events , on which the book has been published to explain the right stance of Azerbaijan.
Defense and Central Asia expert, Lt Col R Khalid Temur Akram shared the details of the day and the book with the participants. He is translating the book into Urdu to be distributed in Pakistan for the study of writers, think tanks, journalists and other professionals.
Chairman Defense Committee of the Senate of Pakistan, Mr. Mushahid Hussain Syed, Senator Talha Mehmood, Former Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Sohail Mehmood, President Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad Ambassador Khalid Mehmood and senior journalists were present from Pakistani side.
Dean of Diplomatic Corp, Ambassador Turkmenistan H.E Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassador Turkiye H.E Mehmet Pacaci, Ambassador Kyrgyzstan H.E Ulanbek Totuiaev , Ambassador of Turkish Republic of North Cyprus, H.E Dilşad Şenol also graced the event with their presence.
The participants observed silence to express their solidarity with the martyrs of Azerbaijan. A documentary was screened that apprised the guests about the background of the foreign aggression against Azerbaijani people and illegal occupation of Azerbaijani territories. It also covered how diplomatically , Azerbaijan tried her best to solve the dispute peacefully but how Armenians always resorted to the aggression and provocations.
Later in Sep 2022, when the Armenians once again posed a threat to the defense of Azerbaijan, they were responded to befitting reply by the armed forces of Azerbaijan. As a result of the second Karabakh war, Azerbaijan liberated occupied territories defeating Armenians, sacrificing thousands of precious lives of the soldiers and civilians as well.
This is the story of a state that was earlier weaker when the Armenian aggression deprived the large number of Azerbaijani people of their freedom in the Karabakh region. It was soon after the proclamation of independence of Azerbaijan in 1991 from USSR.National Leader Heydar Aliyev brought up a strong state army to make the defense of the homeland impregnable. His intelligent son , Ilham Aliyev furthered the legacy of his great father. United Nations passed resolution in favor of Azerbaijan declaring the occupation of Armenia as illegal and illegitimate. But the resolutions were never implemented.
Ambassador Farhadov in his welcome note said, ” Azerbaijan had to settle 1 Million refugees due to the illegal occupation of Armenia in Karabakh region. We used both ways to solve the situation. First diplomacy and then military only for the implementation of the resolutions of UN Security Council. Azerbaijan maintained justice in the region and this justice is not only for Azerbaijanis but it is for all humanity because it ends the illegal foreign occupation. “
“Armenia committed latest provocation on 19 Sep with two acts of sabotage against Azerbaijan. We retaliated militarily against the military installations of Armenia and no civilian on the other side was hit. Armenians installed landmines in our newly liberated areas despite signing peace agreement brokered by Russia. So far more than 300 Azerbaijan soldiers and civilians have been hit by these mines. Armenia is not sharing the maps of the mines so that Azerbaijan may clear them, Ambassador pointed out.
H.E expressed gratitude to Turkiye , Pakistan and Central Asian Republics for their support against the illegal occupation of Azerbaijani territories. First parliamentary delegation from Pakistan visited Azerbaijan in 2007 under the leadership of Senator Mushahid Hussain. Since then the Senate of Pakistan has passed four resolutions against the aggression and illegal occupation by Armenia. In one resolution, Senate of Pakistan called upon the world community to raise voice on the actions of Armenia against the Azerbaijani population terming it Genocide.
Mr. Khazar Farhadov criticized western media for reporting the former position. He said there is Karabakh only and no Nagorno Karabakh exists now. Western media should know that a large number of Armenians are living in Azerbaijani territories happily and peacefully. On the other side, the Armenians destroyed our heritage and cultural sites during the occupation. Media should inform their audience who is right who is wrong clearly and truly.
Ambassador spoke on the geographical importance of his country as well. He said, Azerbaijan provides the shortest connectivity between East and West , North and South. It is win win position for all our neighbors.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed recalled his memories of first visit to Azerbaijan. He shared , ” I asked President Ilham that how you can liberate Karabakh? We have Kashmir dispute and no sign we see for the solution of this dispute. The President replied that we are trying diplomacy first. We will implement justice if diplomacy does not work.”
” This is the leadership actually. We are proud of being with Azerbaijan. We feel that Pakistan has won the war. Azerbaijan is the beacon of light for us that how justice prevails in today’s world of injustice, Mushahid Hussain noted.
Senator Talha Mehmood paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Azerbaijan. He said that brave nation defended their homeland and sovereignty by sacrificing their lives in the face of adversity. This is story of resilience and unbreakable will of the people of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan is determined to thwart any mischievous activities from any side , Armenia or other for the safety of her people and for territorial integrity of the homeland. It is in the best interest of the other side to respect the third party interventions, obey the agreement signed on the table of dialogue for peaceful coexistence in the south caucus region. Neighbors can not be changed. Better be good and friendly with the neighbors. It is the lesson of the history.
