National University of Technology Islamabad (NUTECH) Invents Ventilators, 3D Printers – Rector Pledges to Prepare Standardized Human Resource for Oversea Employment

The students of National University of Technology (NUTECH) have invented 3 D printer and special Ventilators but industry is not taking interest in large scale production and marketing of these two important inventions by indigenous intelligence and technology. The university is ready to share the technology but industry is not ready.This locally manufactured ventilator costs only 40% of that we import.NUTECH is preparing a scanner for Airport Security Force, X-Ray machine and other inventions as well.
This was disclosed by Rector NUTECH Lt Gen R Moazam Ejaz in a briefing to senior journalists of twin cities. Rector lamented that there is deficit of trust between academia and industry. Both should come closer and the programs should be designed according to the needs of the industry.
He welcomes industry and shared that NUTECH is already in touch with main chambers of commerce of country. Rector said that NUTECH has acquired to license of training the human resource for foreign jobs. NUTECH is focusing on Technology,Information Technology and Engineering on higher level while short skill courses are also part of work to enable the students to earn their living if they can not find job.
Rector said that the youth can be our asset if we give them training and direction while the same youth can be a burden if they are left alone. That is why , we need to train the youth with short skills so that they can get employment in country or out of country. NUTECH has sent some youth to Japan.
Romania also needs 250 thousand workforce. If we equip our youth with their demand , we can send them abroad to earn their living as well as foreign currency for country. Rector shared that 80% remittances from abroad are sent by low level work force while only 20% is sent by highly placed Pakistanis.
Regarding NUTECH , the Rector said that we believe in quality and not quantity, that is why the number of students has been kept selected up to 12 to 13 hundred so that we can focus on their education and training. We impart soft skills into the students so that they can express themselves and present their skills in convincing way. NUTECH is now expanding its programs and campuses. Main campus is being constructed in Capital Smart City Islamabad. NUTECH has started evening and week end programs as well.
Rector Moazam Ejaz lamented that unfortunately we are lagging behind India in terms of human resource. They started work on IT in 80s while we were starting it in late 90s. Today Indians are sitting on all major seats in multi national companies. We have image problem as well. Pakistanis are not considered good in hospitality industry. Here too mostly Indians , Burmese , Bangla citizens are seen on the front desks in Mekkah and Madinah.

Rector said that we can improve our image through our youth by preparing them according to the world standards so that they can not only compete but become acceptable there as well.
Regarding a question about large number of private universities and their substandard education , the Rector said that the Regulator (Higher Education Commission)should see the matters of these universities. He said many people suggested us to start business program as cash cow but we refused.
Rector said I wonder how a private university can run 100 programs. Private universities are profitable business of wealthy people. Rector shared that Chief Minister Punjab Pervez Elahi approved 14 while the then federal government approved 37 private universities in their last days of government.
Rector said that it is the duty of the Regulator to keep strict check and balance and maintain quality control. Rector said our university is technical board of Trade Test for overseas employment. We enforce the quality without any concessions. We have disapproved the licensing of some trade test centers affiliated to army even.
