Pak-Kazakh Trade Increased 18 % in 10 Months than Last Year – QazTrade & NLC to Sign Agreement – Cooperation in Tourism, Culture Finalized

    ASTANA: The 12th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was held in Astana.
    Ambassadors of the two countries, representatives of ministries and business communities took part in the event under the co-chairmanship of Vice-Minister RK Kairata Torebayeva and Federal Secretary  Economic Affairs of Pakistan Mr. Kazim Niaz.
    According to Kairata Torebayeva, the turnover in the agricultural sector showed good prospects, for 10 months of this year, the volume of trade increased by 18% compared to last year, exceeding $17 million. The Kazakh side offered to continue cooperation in this direction.

    In turn,  Kazim Niaz noted that the development of trade and economic relations and the development of transit routes and logistics are of priority importance for our countries.
    Thus, in order to develop transport logistics, QazTrade and the Pakistani logistics company National Logistics Cell have reached an agreement to sign an agreement on mutually beneficial cooperation by organizing logistics services and providing special tariff conditions.
    At the end of the plenary session, the parties signed the final Protocol of the 12th Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of tourism between the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Interprovincial Coordination of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Culture between the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of National heritage and culture of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

    Also, in order to establish mutually beneficial cooperation and direct contacts, a round table for business circles of Kazakhstan and Pakistan was held on December 21, 2023. More than 35 Kazakh and Pakistani companies in the field of light and food industry, agricultural industry, logistics, IT, pharmaceuticals, education, and service took part in the round table meeting.
    RK Kairata Torebayeva, Vice-Minister of trade and integration of Kazakhstan said at the meeting of the intergovernmental commission,
    “Kazakhstan considers Pakistan as an important and promising trade partner and attaches special importance to the expansion of trade and economic cooperation. However, the current level of trade between our countries does not correspond to its potential. We are interested in increasing exports and are ready to additionally supply to the Pakistani market 40 processed goods from various sectors of the economy in the amount of $21.5 million,”
    Federal Secretary  Economic Affairs of Pakistan Mr. Kazim Niaz said,
    “The holding of the first meeting of the Kazakhstan-Pakistan Business Council in Astana in July of this year showed that further cooperation will strengthen the growth of the welfare of the two countries.”
