ISLAMABAD : Maj Gen R Anjum Enayat, Pakistan Ambassador to Government of National Unity GNU based in Tripoli, the rival of General Khalifa Haftar’s regime based in Tobruk, visited the the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of GNU on 21 July 2025 only a couple of days after General Haftar’s son Lt Gen Saddam visited Pakistan as Libyan Commander in Chief and met Pakistani Army Chief, Naval Chief and Prime Minister.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Libya’s Government of National Unity held a meeting on Sunday with the Pakistani Ambassador to discuss several unresolved issues between the two countries, though specific details were not disclosed.
The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli, was attended by the Director of the Asia and Australia Affairs Department and the Director of the General Protocol Department.
According to a brief statement from the ministry, the talks also focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors to serve the shared interests of the Libyan and Pakistani peoples.
Here it is important to note the timing of the visit of Pakistani Ambassador to MOFA of Rival GNU of Saddam’s Tobruk regime.
It looks more summoning than routine visit. Most probably, the MOFA officials sought explanation of the visit of Saddam with a big delegation as Commander of Libya while he is just a commander of East Libya only and that thanks to his father Field Marshal General Khalifa Haftar only.
Tobruk regime of Lt Gen Saddam is not recognized by UN and international community. He has visited Turkiye and USA earlier that is seen as an effort of these countries to build unity in Libya that has been discouraged by Gen Khalifa Haftar in the past.
