Islamabad: At the invitation of President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to Dushanbe, Tajikistan from 2-3 July 2024.
In Dushanbe, the Prime Minister will meet President Emomali Rahmon, Chairman of Majlisi Namoyandagon of Majlisi Oli Mahmadtoir Zoir Zokirzoda and Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda.
The visit is a part of regular high-level exchanges between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
The two sides will engage in wide-ranging discussions on areas of mutual interest to further deepen bilateral cooperation especially in the areas of regional connectivity, trade, people-to-people contacts and energy as well as cooperation on multilateral issues.
The two sides will also sign agreements and MoUs in diverse areas of Cooperation.
Here it is pertinent to mention the four country electricity transmission project Central Asia South Asia CASA- 1000 MW that is pending for implementation for one decade.
Pakistan badly needs energy and that on reasonable rates to control the crisis of load shedding and unbearable inflation. Tajikistan has vast production of electricity.
Tajikistan is very near to Pakistan geographically. Tajikistan Pakistan are very close in political relations. As long as, meaningful cooperation is concerned , Pakistan can tap the opportunities in diversified sectors.
