ISTANBUL: 08 Feb 2024 – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a meeting with the Foreign Ministers of D-8. Foreign Ministers of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkiye were present in the meet after the conclusion of the Extraordinary meeting of D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers on the Situation in Gaza.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar joined a collective call of D-8 Foreign Ministers on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
President Erdoğan was briefed on the proceedings of the Ministerial meeting.Mr. Dar applauded Türkiye’s initiative of hosting D-8 Ministerial meeting on Gaza.
Mr. Dar conveyed to President Erdoğan the greetings of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He thanked President Erdoğan for his personal interest and leadership towards enhancing Pakistan-Türkiye bilateral relations.
Mr. Dar reiterated invitation to President Erdoğan for visiting Pakistan at the earliest convenience for the 7th High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC).
Meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister with the Foreign Minister of Türkiye
Mr. Ishaq Dar today met with the Foreign Minister of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, on the margins of the Extraordinary Meeting of the D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers held in Istanbul, Türkiye.
He commended Türkiye for taking the lead to convene the Extraordinary Meeting of the D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers to discuss the dire situation in Gaza resulting from Israeli aggression since October 2023.
The two Ministers called for concerted international efforts to end Israeli aggression and genocide of Palestinian people and for a two-state solution for lasting peace in the Middle East.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar and Foreign Minister Fidan underscored the exemplary bilateral relations between Pakistan and Türkiye rooted in commonality of faith, culture, and history and agreed to further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Turkish Foreign Minister congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Dar on Pakistan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s appreciation for Türkiye’s support and the desire for working together to uphold international law and the UN Charter.
