President Pakistan in China on a Highly Crucial Time – When there are Voices at Home on CPEC, Investments on Hold – Challenges to Security of Citizens

    President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday 04 Feb arrived in China on a five-day official visit on the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping at a highly crucial time when bilateral relations between Iron Brothers are facing tough challenges on different levels.

    There are voices in Pakistan about CPEC and Chinese investments are on hold for security of Chinese citizens is not fool proof in Pakistan. Pakistani interior minister’s recent visit to Washington and meeting with Pro Taiwan parliamentarians there is another big controversy.

    Moreover, only a couple of weeks ago, China Road and Bridges Corporation and other companies have lodged complaint against Sindh Police for seeking bribes for security and above all terrorist attack on Chinese at Karachi airport premises are the most disturbing points for time tested friends on how to deal with them and how to pass through towards continuation of the flagship project of BRI etc.

    Gwadar international airport was inaugurated and operationalized last month and Gwadar port is the culmination of CPEC but security concerns are still there. Minister’s even are not satisfied on security in Balochistan as Minister Maritime expressed it last month. Few days ago, the terrorists martyred 18 soldiers in Kalat the home of Commerce Minister Jam Kamal. Former Senator Mushahid Hussain says that Chinese concerns on security have not been addressed properly.

    Coming back to President’s arrival, he  was accompanied by a delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Senator Saleem Mandviwala and Dr Asim Hussain.

    President Zardari’s Visit – New Journey of China-Pakistan Relations – by Ambassador Jiang Zaidong

    President Zardari was warmly received by Chinese Finance Minister Lan Fo’an, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, and Ambassador of China in Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, on his arrival at the Beijing International Airport.

    During the visit, the president will hold meetings with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and other senior Chinese political leaders.

    The two sides will discuss matters of mutual interest including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, regional connectivity, and security cooperation.

    On the special invitation of the Chinese government, President Zardari will attend the inaugural ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, Heilongjiang province.

    President Zardari’s visit to China is significant in further strengthening the Pakistan-China relations with a specific focus on enhanced bilateral trade and commerce ties.

    President Asif Ali Zardari’s visite to China’s National Heroes Memorial in Beijing. The President laid flowers at the memorial of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sake of China. The President paid  tribute to the courage and bravery of the heroes of China.

    President Zardari is said to be king of politics and master of reconciliation in Pakistan. Lets see how he handles the situationer in Beijing. The onus , mostly, is on him if we see attack at Karachi airport and complaint of bribery by Sindh Police. Karachi and Sindh are home of President Zardari with full control on everything there.
