President of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E Shavkat Mirziyoyev attracted the attention of all leaders present at CICA Conference by suggesting them 6 priorities to overcome the challenges of conflicts, backwardness, poverty, climate change, food, etc. He presented a complete roadmap to reach the destination in his speech at the conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia held in Astana on 13 Oct 2022.
President Shavkat has always been a strong advocate of common development and prosperity in the regions. Here too, the President looked concerned about the same objectives for which he is convincing the leaders in every conference and forum.
Uzbekistan itself has always promoted peace and connectivity in the regions and now as Chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, has assumed more responsibilities to bring the nations to a consensus on working together for the well-being of their people.
The President hosted the leaders of SCO only one month ago at Samarkand where he discussed the same common interests of security and prosperity.
The President rightly pointed out that lack of dialogue and trust, and growing uncertainty in international relations are the obstacles in the promotion of dialogue between the nations and connecting the regions that are necessary for common development.
He has suggested 6 priorities including peace and stability in Afghanistan, interacting with the interim government, Establishing systemic cooperation in order to protect our youth from radicalism,
Strengthen interconnectedness in the Asian region, primarily through the creation of production and logistics chains, Promotion of the knowledge economy as the basis for the transition to a new stage of the global industrial revolution, Creation of an integral system for monitoring food security in Asia, Regular expert consultations within the framework of the Green Asia conceptual program on intensive planting of greenery in our countries and support for vulnerable ecosystems.
President has intelligent homework on topical issues in the regions. Whenever He speaks on the issues, a mindful and well-thought analysis, and to-the-point recommendations come out before the decision makers of the regions and the continents. The situation of Afghanistan is a major problem in the connectivity of Asia. The President’s suggestion calls upon the leaders of Asia to try their best to help Afghans bring broad-based governance that can turn this war-torn country into a major junction between the nations.
Asia is the most thickly populated continent and the largest portion of this population consists of young people who seek brighter futures after their education is completed.
Unfortunately, many countries in Asia are not able to deal with this challenge. The youth is an easy target of radicalism because the governments can not provide jobs and employment to their youth. Thus, the President’s concern about the youth is a whistleblower for the participants to take appropriate measures to save the youth.
President Shavkat has many times hinted at the digitalization of the economies to promote interactions between the businessmen of the region. The knowledge economy has transformed the whole map and systems of trade or investments in the world.
Therefore, the President’s suggestion to adopt artificial intelligence and digitalization is in the best interest of all countries. They are supposed to introduce advanced technologies as early as possible if they seek accelerated progress for their people.
Similarly, the President’s suggestions about Climate Change Challenges and Food Security are equally important to be worked upon. We in Pakistan, are observing earthquakes and floods due to climate change.
Moreover, Pakistan was once the exporter of food items and agricultural products but now we are importing wheat, onion, tomato, etc. When you are short of food, your nation is too weak to walk with the healthy nations.
When earthquakes and floods hit you, all the developments and infrastructures you have constructed are demolished to send you decades back than the other countries.
President Shavkat’s suggestions should be considered, adopted, and implemented as soon as possible.
