ISLAMABAD: 05 Nov 2024 – Federal Minister Maritime Pakistan Qaisar Ahmed Shaikh has said that Law and Order situation in Gwader is not exemplary. I was present in meeting between Pakistan China Prime Ministers at the sidelines of SCO. Chinese Premier said that the security of their citizens is highly important for them.
Here it is worth mentioning that earlier the statement was attributed to President Xi Jinping and still some mainstream media persons are doing the same but Qaisar Ahmed Sheikh referred the statement to Chinese Premier.
In an interview on the controversy of the statements of DPM/FM Ishaq Dar and Ambassador of China, Qaisar Ahmed Sheikh said , ” Yes! the factual position is the same (What DPM/FM said ) that Chinese citizens are being attacked but still China is investing in Pakistan.”

The Minister did not made it clear that it was comment of DPM/FM and not the statement of the Chinese Premier. He added,” We have to provide security to Chinese citizens. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is extremely concerned about it. Pakistan is doing her best.”
To a question that any statement from the Premier came as ” China is bringing her own security for her citizens in Pakistan? Minister replied that the Premier did not state that.
About the other news appearing in a section of press/media that the work has been stopped at Gwader, Minister Sheikh contradicted such news but admitted that the Law and Order situation is not totally satisfactory there.

Qaisar Ahmed Shaikh shared ,” I visited Gwader and observed the situation there. Gwader is very important for China. The work has not been stopped but it is slow for there is not connecting road network with Balochistan and Punjab.”
CPEC Observer and author of many articles on China Pak including CPEC, Mr. Tazeen Akhtar has termed this  statement of the Minister very strange because Gwader is part of Balochistan and the port is the  culmination of CPEC that is mainly a road network. If the port of the province is not connected with the same province in first phase of CPEC in last 10+ years , how one can be satisfied on the pace of work and how the second phase can be started when the first is not complete.
