ISLAMABAD: Monitoring Desk – UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Monday, his spokesman said.
“The secretary-general strongly condemns the 26 August attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province,” said Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN chief, at a daily briefing.
“The secretary-general stresses that attacks against civilians are unacceptable,” he said.
The UN chief extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and called on the Pakistani government to conduct an investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable, Dujarric added.
Azerbaijan strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Pakistan, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry wrote on its page on X, Trend reports.
“Appalled by the horrifying news of a terrorist attack that killed dozens in Balochistan, Pakistan.
We vehemently condemn all forms and manifestations of terrorism threat, offer heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of this awful attack, and express our firm solidarity with brotherly Islamic Republic of Pakistan,” the statement said.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani said the attacks, which led to the death of police officers and civilians, is strongly condemned by Tehran.
The spokesman offered condolences to the bereaved and expressed sympathy with the Pakistani government and nation.
“The Islamic Republic opposes and condemns terrorism of any kind and stands by the government and people of neighboring and brotherly country Pakistan in the fighting against this evil phenomenon.”
The Iranian official also offered condolences to the government of Bangladesh upon huge flooding there, which has been without precedent in decades.
The Iranian spokesman said the government and people of Iran stand by the Bangladeshi nation during these hard times.

In an official statement, the Ministry expressed profound sorrow, saying, “We wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and convey our condolences to their families.”

According to reports from officials and local media, at least 74 people, including 21 terrorists and 14 security personnel, were killed during several hours of clashes and attacks in southwest and northwest Pakistan.

The Pakistani army reported that coordinated attacks were launched by terrorists on the army in the Musakhel, Qalat, and Lasbela districts, resulting in the deaths of 21 militants and 10 paramilitary troops. Additionally, four law enforcement personnel lost their lives in the clashes.
In recent years, Pakistan has experienced an increase in terror attacks, particularly in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and southwestern Balochistan provinces. Although mineral-rich, Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest yet poorest province, enduring a low-intensity insurgency from Baloch separatists who claim long-standing neglect in development efforts.
Furthermore, Balochistan plays a critical role in the $64 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, which aims to link China’s strategically vital northwestern Xinjiang province with Balochistan’s Gwadar port through a network of roads, railways, and pipelines designed for transporting cargo, oil, and gas.
“The United States strongly condemns yesterday’s deadly attacks in Balochistan that targeted security officials and civilians, including the murder of twenty-three innocent civilians in Musakhail,” the US Embassy in Islamabad said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
“Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those killed in yesterday’s attacks. The United States will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism,” the US Embassy said.
